Student answer (Band 5.5)
Tourism has contributed alot in developing economies and the statement that tells the damage caused by tourism to local cultures is not agreeable because of the fact that now a days , most of the people have access to the social media and due to that the world has become a social village ; therefore, if one talks about the damage to culture then social media has played a greter role. yes, to some extent one can say that because of the tourism the dressing, food and live in relationship has been influenced but, that change is negligable as compared to the social media. On the other hand, there are alot of benefits of tourism in which one is the revenue collection bu tourism and how this industry is helping the developing nations to manage their finances. In 2025 alone Pakistan has earned 1.1billion $ from the international visitors and that's significant increase in Pakistan's revenue. Furthermore, other 3rd world countries including India, Bangladesh, Myanmar,Nepal,Bhutan and most of the African countries are also benefitting from this industry and managing the budget easily. Moreover, the internationl image of the countries also enhnces by which more tourists as well as investors are attracted towards the country eventually leads to the better economy of the country for example, one of the American tourists visited Pakistan last year and told everyone that how amazing is Pakistan in terms of food, people and places. To sum up, tourism has alot of advantages as compared to the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether tourism damages local cultures and the environment, taking a clear stance that the negative impact is negligible compared to other factors like social media, while highlighting economic benefits. However, there is an important length issue: the essay contains 248 words, falling slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This minor under-length penalty, combined with some slightly underdeveloped examples regarding cultural impacts, places the task response at Band 5.5. The ideas presented are relevant, particularly the economic arguments concerning Pakistan and developing nations, but the counter-argument regarding cultural damage is handled in a somewhat superficial and generalised manner without fully exploring the environmental aspect of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays basic overall coherence, but suffers significantly from structural and paragraphing deficiencies. The entire body of the response is written as two massive blocks of text without adequate paragraph breaks to separate distinct ideas, such as the counter-argument about culture and the supporting arguments about economic revenue. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'therefore', 'on the other hand', 'furthermore', and 'moreover', but their application is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and punctuation errors around conjunctions and clauses further disrupt the flow. Because the organisation lacks clear logical progression through proper paragraphing, it aligns best with Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'developing economies', 'revenue collection', and 'international visitors'. However, there are numerous lexical and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'contributed alot' (a lot), 'social village' (global village), 'live in relationship' (lifestyle), 'negligable' (negligible), 'buh tourism' (by tourism), '1.1billion $' (placement of currency symbol), and 'enhnces' (enhances). There are also several spelling errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 6.0, making Band 5.5 a fair assessment.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in word boundaries, such as 'alot' and 'now a days', as well as punctuation lapses like missing commas, comma splices, and run-on sentences (e.g., 'for example, one of the American tourists visited Pakistan last year and told everyone that how amazing is Pakistan in terms of food, people and places'). Complex sentence attempts often contain structural flaws or awkward phrasing. Although the meaning is generally retrievable, the high density of grammatical and punctuation errors means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, supporting a Band 5.0 score.
