Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, tourism has become the fastest growing industry which contributes for overall development, more specifically to the ecconomic developmet of numerous country around the globe. Apart from this, the rising concern about the negative impact it can have to local culture and environment need to be addressed properly. And I firmly believe that these issue cannot be ingnored and needs a sustainable solution.

Toursim offers a lot to any country, either that is least developed, developing or developed if handled properly. It will provide the country with ecconomic boost that most country hope for. Tourism industry helps other industry grow for instance, the arrival of tourist will contribut to multiple sectors such as hospitality, ailines, transportaion companies and many others which will somehow countribute to country's gross domestic product. Furthermore, thousands of people are getting employment because of tourism industry who are solely based on tourism for their survival.

Having said that, we can't ingnore the fact that tourism can cause damage to the local culture and environment. Most people today love to travel and explore however, lacks the civic sense which results in degradtion of the place. For example, we can see the loiters and plastic wastes in toruist place that are caused by the visitors. Such behaviour doesnot only ruins the beauty of that place but also can cause severe environment damage. Additionally, the toruism has affected the local culture by introducing their culture to the places they travel around and the local culture are losing their authenticity.

To conclude, tourism has numerous benifits and can be a driving factor of ecconomic growth of a nation. However, their negative impacts cann't be overseen and need to come up with the solution to presever local culture and environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the economic benefits of tourism and the negative impacts on local cultures and the environment, presenting a clear overall position. The ideas are generally relevant, but some are more fully developed than others. For instance, while the economic contribution to sectors like hospitality and transportation is expanded upon with examples, the point about how tourists introduce their own culture and cause local traditions to lose their authenticity is left somewhat under-developed without specific illustration. To move to a higher level, all main ideas would need to be extended equally with well-supported details and fully realised examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear central topic maintained throughout the paragraphs. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, economic advantages, cultural and environmental drawbacks, and the conclusion. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or faulty, such as in the opening sentences where referencing is slightly unclear ("these issue cannot be ingnored"). Cohesive devices like "Furthermore" and "Additionally" are employed to guide the reader, but transitions between sentences occasionally lack smooth logical flow. Achieving a higher standard would require more seamless referencing and a greater variety of sophisticated cohesive links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, showing an attempt to incorporate less common items such as "gross domestic product" and "authenticity". However, there are noticeable spelling mistakes (e.g., "ecconomic", "developmet", "ingnore", "benifits") and word-form errors like "environment damage" instead of environmental damage. Word choices are sometimes imprecise, for instance using "toruist place" or "loiters" instead of litter. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. Improving precision, mastering word forms, and eliminating spelling errors would elevate this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as in "thousands of people are getting employment because of tourism industry who are solely based on tourism for their survival." There are some errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("this issue... needs", "however, lacks") and missing articles ("to country's gross domestic product"). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede overall communication. To reach a higher standard, the writer would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over prepositions and article usage.
