Student answer (Band 5.5)
Developing of transport industry, globalisation have allowed to grow such follofing areas of economics as tourism, which in turn, makes a great input into world economics. Despite this progressive aspect, tourism itself can be not only beneficial, but also harmful for local objects and environment in general. Nevertheless, I am inclined to state that deveploment of tourism has more advantages than negative effects.
On the one hand, icreasing of popularity of travelling gives people around the world the common feeling of united society, opportunity to get to know our world closer, to learn various cultures, traditions and customs, and therefore to realise how different nature, counties and people are. Tourism as a main provider of the opportunity to travel, defelopes also many other human's skills, such as broad-minding, space orientation, ability to learn foreign languades, for instance, or find quickly nessessitive information.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task partially, and importantly, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 180 words. While you attempt to present a position in the introduction by stating that tourism has more advantages than negative effects, the ideas remain limited and under-developed due to the short length. The second body paragraph trails off mid-sentence, meaning the conclusion and full exploration of the counter-arguments are entirely missing. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words and fully develop your supporting ideas and examples rather than leaving arguments truncated.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear attempts at organization. You successfully use standard cohesive devices to signal transitions between paragraphs, such as 'On the one hand,' and 'On the other hand,'. However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the dangling transition in the final incomplete sentence. Paragraphing is introduced adequately, but the response lacks a concluding paragraph entirely, which hinders overall progression. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure every paragraph is fully completed and that logical links between ideas are managed more naturally and seamlessly throughout a complete essay structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, showing an attempt to use less common items such as 'globalisation', 'progressive aspect', and 'carbon footprint'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty or read awkwardly, such as 'follofing' instead of 'following', 'input' instead of 'contribution', 'deveploment', 'broad-minding', and 'nessessitive' instead of 'necessary'. These lexical inaccuracies prevent the vocabulary from scoring higher. To improve, focus on strengthening word choices, checking word forms and collocations carefully, and eliminating basic spelling slips to communicate your ideas with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and participial phrases, for instance in 'Despite this progressive aspect, tourism itself can be not only beneficial...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, articles, and prepositions that persist throughout the text, such as 'Developing of transport industry' missing necessary articles, 'icreasing of popularity', and 'during their visits historical' missing a preposition. These errors occur in both simple and complex structures, although they rarely impede overall communication entirely. To move up, you should work on improving grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, preposition usage, and correct verb nominalisation.
