Student answer (Band 5.5)

Over the past few years, It has seen that the tourism industry is rapidly growing and plays a very significant role in the economies around the world. But a majory setback is totally ignored weather it is the damage to the local culture or to the environment and I personally totally agree with this statement.

On one hand, tourism is absoulty one of the fasted growing industry which has a grest impact on the economy but the local culture is heavily effected by this. The reason to this is that when people round the globe continuous there visits to a specific place, the government also took steps to accodomate them. For instance, it is seen that Dubai is now one of the most attractive tourist place for the world and with that their local arabic culture is looked far behind that has been ignored.

One the other hand, it has a very desasting effect on environemnt. Most of the tourist not even pay attention to their sorroundings and somehow effecting the environment.I used to visit Murree in my childhood which is one of the most beautiful tourist sopt located in Pakistan, but last year when I visited there, I was shocked to see the exausted stage of Murree. There were garbage everywhere, the tourist are not even care about others which alternativly effects the envronment so badly.

In conclusion, there is not doubt that tourism play a very pivot role in the world's economy but due to miss-managemt it is not only harshly effecting the local culture but also damaging the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that tourism’s economic benefits can come at a cost to local culture and the environment. Both parts of the concern are addressed, and the examples of Dubai and Murree make the discussion relevant and personal. The Murree example, especially the observation about garbage, gives concrete support to your environmental point. However, the cultural impact in Dubai is asserted rather than explained in detail, and the essay does not fully explore how tourism’s economic contribution relates to the harms you identify. To strengthen the response, develop each example with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and make your overall judgement more precise about the extent of the damage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate concerns, and a conclusion that restates your position. The signposts “On one hand” and “One the other hand” help readers follow the shift from cultural effects to environmental damage. Within the paragraphs, however, some links are abrupt, and the explanation of how government accommodation affects culture is not fully connected to the Dubai example. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not draw them together into a final judgement. Use clearer links between claims, explanations, and examples, and make pronouns such as “that” refer unmistakably to a specific idea. This would make the progression smoother and less dependent on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “tourism industry,” “local culture,” “economies,” and “environment,” and phrases such as “heavily affected” and “garbage everywhere” communicate your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “majory setback,” “fasted growing,” “desasting effect,” and “miss-managemt.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “pivot role” and “tourist place.” Aim to use accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will help your ideas sound more precise and make the vocabulary more flexible. The suggestions below offer alternatives that fit your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional-style explanation beginning “when people round the globe…” and a longer sentence describing your visit to Murree. These attempts show some range, but control is uneven: errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “the government also took steps” shifts tense within a general explanation, while “the tourist are not even care” combines an incorrect verb form with agreement problems. The opening also joins contrasting ideas with “But” in a way that leaves the sentence structure awkward. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement and tense consistency before adding further clauses.
