Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days it is an ongiong topic that tourism is fastest growing industries and has various economics benefits around world, while other argue tourism can damage local cultures and environment, In this essay I will discuss both views before presenting my own opinion.

First and foremost, tourism is the growing industry all over the world, many countries are mainly dependent on tourism industry. Tourism has many economics benefits, it has significant contribute in world economy. Tour sites are mostly remote areas, these areas are facing many economic challenges where tourism are the main source of their income. There are restaurant and hotel industry that are directly connected to tourism, meanwhile, tourism creates numerous jobs opportunities in these areas such as tour guide, drivers, and travell agents.

In addition, tourism industry bring investment in country and also become cause of development in those areas. Moreover, tourism explores these new areas and connect these neglected sites with world.

On the other hand, tourism can affects the local culture and environment, tourists moslty from ubran areas and they don't have any knowledge of local culture. Some time they un intentionally disrespect local culture, it is really dishurted for the local resident. whereas, it can create conflict in these areas. Furthermore. many tourists try to expercienced local culture its is positive aspect but sometime tourists violate their norms and tradition. Moreover, enviroment is the main concern; tourism can cause of pollution, the transportation damage the fresh air of these areas. There is no proper waste system in these areas and these tourists bring a lot of plastic bags and it become source of land pollution.

In conclusion, although tourism have many postive benfits, local culture and environment are serious damage, in my opinion i agree with the question statement, many times tourism create a lot of complication.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both the economic benefits and the cultural and environmental costs of tourism, and your conclusion states agreement with the concern in the prompt. Relevant points include employment for “tour guide, drivers, and travel agents” and pollution from transport and plastic waste. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction promises to discuss “both views,” while the conclusion gives only a brief, general opinion. Several claims are asserted rather than explained—for example, tourism “bring[s] investment” and “connect[s] these neglected sites with world,” but no specific example shows how. Develop fewer points with clearer explanation and support, and state your degree of agreement directly in the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on economic benefits, a paragraph on negative effects, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad contrast, and signposts such as “On the other hand” make the shift clear. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak: the economic paragraph moves from jobs to investment and development without showing how the ideas connect, while the final paragraph compresses the overall position into a vague statement. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “In addition” are repeated and sometimes introduce another assertion rather than a developed step in the argument. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example to its main point, and make references such as “these areas” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “local culture,” “investment,” “pollution,” “transportation,” and “land pollution,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “economics benefits” for economic benefits, “significant contribute” for a significant contribution, and “create a lot of complication” for cause many problems. There are also misspellings such as “ongiong,” “moslty,” and “enviroment.” Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will help you express familiar ideas more naturally and clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “where” and “although,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “tourism is fastest growing industries” has problems with articles and number, while “tourism can affects” uses an incorrect verb form. Agreement is also inconsistent in “tourism industry bring investment” and “tourism have many.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: the opening sentence joins several clauses with commas, and “Furthermore.” incorrectly ends a sentence before the next idea. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
