Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism has primarily contributed to the fast growth in economy of many countries around the globe. Though tourism have several advantages to the financial building of many nations,it causes serious damage to cultures and destroys the universe. I largely agree that tourism have more downsides to the culture and the environment.

One of the significant challenge of tourism is that is leads to cultural erosion. Local people emmulate foreign cultures when they interact with foreigners, locals would fully be assimilated by foreigners. For example, traditional foods and clothing are replaced my modern trends in cooking and fashion. People get more satisfaction in looking stylish and eating foreign foods. Consequently, traditional values and heritage are lost, thus sendimental culture totaly lost.

Furthermore, enviromental challenges are experience around the globe. Travelling by use of aeroplanes when visiting new places cause emmission of gases to the atmosphere. global warming causes considerable number of promlems to the universe. For instance, flooding are experience in many parts of the world, leads to loss of lives and properties worth of millions. Overall, environmental issues caused by foreign visitors can be minimise if an appropriate methods are put in place

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in the introduction, stating that you “largely agree,” and address both cultural and environmental harm. The examples of traditional food and clothing being displaced, and air travel contributing to emissions, are relevant to the question. However, the response only partially develops these points: the claim that locals become “fully assimilated” is broad and not explained, while the link between tourism, flooding, and loss of property needs clearer support. The conclusion is also incomplete; it shifts to saying environmental damage can be minimised without restating your overall view or weighing the harms. The response is 189 words, below the required 250, which limits how fully you can explain and support your ideas. Develop each main point with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on cultural effects, and a paragraph on environmental effects. The sequence from cultural change to environmental damage is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “For example” help readers follow the main points. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, progression within sentences is sometimes unclear, particularly in “Local people emmulate foreign cultures when they interact with foreigners, locals would fully be assimilated by foreigners,” where two ideas are joined without a clear relationship. The final sentence introduces mitigation rather than bringing the argument to a clear close. To strengthen the organisation, separate cause and consequence clearly, use referencing that identifies what “this” or “these issues” refers to, and add a concise concluding paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “cultural erosion,” “traditional values,” “heritage,” “emmission of gases,” and “global warming.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several word choices, forms, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. For example, “destroys the universe” does not precisely describe environmental damage, and “financial building” is an awkward way to express economic growth. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “emmulate,” “enviromental,” and “totaly.” Build a more precise set of phrases for describing cultural change and environmental impacts, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening with “Though” and a conditional structure in “if an appropriate methods are put in place.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence patterns. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the argument difficult to read. Examples include “tourism have” instead of subject–verb agreement, “One of the significant challenge” instead of a plural noun, and “flooding are experience,” which has problems with agreement and verb form. The sentence beginning “Local people…” also joins clauses without appropriate punctuation or a linking structure. Practise accurate agreement, articles, plural forms, and complete sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
