Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response shows a general positive view of tourism, but it does not clearly answer the central question about whether tourism’s harm to local cultures and the environment is ignored. You state that tourism “can't impact on our culture and environment,” yet give no explanation or evidence for this claim, and most of the essay discusses tourism’s benefits to knowledge and economies. The examples—such as foreign cultures, foods and cities—are relevant to tourism but do not establish how its effects are managed or overlooked. The conclusion repeats broad claims rather than resolving the question. The response is also three words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, state your degree of agreement clearly and develop relevant examples of both cultural and environmental impacts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs and to guide the reader with phrases such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up.” However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: the opening introduces tourism as a leisure activity, the next paragraph describes it as an industry, and later paragraphs shift between knowledge, culture and economic systems without explaining their connections. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or do not signal the relationship between ideas; for example, “On the other hand” introduces another benefit rather than a contrasting point. The conclusion also repeats earlier wording instead of drawing the argument together. Plan one main point per paragraph and use transitions that accurately show whether you are adding, contrasting or concluding.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “economies,” “foreign culture,” “historical place,” and “environment,” so the reader can identify the general subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “prominent peaceful places” and “convenient sources,” but these combinations are unclear or unnatural in context. Repetition of broad terms such as “people,” “benefits,” and “this activity” limits precision, while phrases such as “fastest increasing factories” appear to confuse tourism with an industry. These word-choice and collocation problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Build a more accurate topic vocabulary—such as “tourism industry,” “local communities,” “environmental damage,” and “economic benefits”—and check that words combine naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and examples introduced by “For example.” However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors that obscure the intended meaning. For instance, “people is one of the most fastest increasing factories” has problems with subject–verb agreement and comparative structure, while “this activity can't impact on our culture and environment this is…” joins two clauses without appropriate punctuation or a linking structure. Other examples include “the amount of people are working” and “we can deals,” which show difficulties with agreement and verb forms. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
