Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and contributes a large amount of share in economy all over the world. In fact Tourism has grown in a significant amount throghout the last two decades. Most of the time tourism is seen as a blessing but it has some demerits too. Tourism sometimes becomes the reason of causing harm to local cultures and the environment and it is ignored because it has less incidents as such. In this essay i will provide the both views and agreement or disagreement on both the premises.

First of all, Tourism has major merits over demerits as it helps us to travel around the world and enjoy various culture, environments, religion and enjoy delicious food all around the world. Tourism assists us by providing knowledge about a particular place. For instance, If you visit Egypt you might be able to learn more about the Pyramid of Giza. Tourism brings closer as we get a chance to visit many people and their houses sometimes which creates a friendly relationship between us. Tourism enables the way of earning global currencies like US Dollars which can increase the reserve of a nation. For Example Germany earns foreign currencies at the time of Octoberfest when people all around the world visit Germany.

Secondly, Though tourism is a blessing but it has some disadvantages too. Tourisms most crucial disadvantages are that it can create opportunity for a major outbreak of diseases For example, Corona virus pandemic in

2019 had a major outbreak all around the world because people were moving from different parts of the world without being educated about it. People weren't careful for their heatlh checkups and that caused a major outbreak of corona virus.

Moreover, A country can become unhygenic by mass tourism and that can produce not only numberous diseases but also facilate in higher crime rate.

After discussing both the views throughly, I have reached to a conclusion that Although tourism has both of it's advantages and disadvantages and it seems like the advantages are more to the look at than the disadvantages itself i would suggest to formulate effective rules and regulations in order to protect the local cultures and environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both benefits and drawbacks of tourism and give a concluding recommendation to introduce rules protecting culture and the environment. However, the response only partially addresses the precise question: it asks whether you agree that tourism’s damage is often ignored, but your position focuses mainly on whether tourism’s advantages outweigh its disadvantages. The claim that harm is ignored because there are “less incidents” is unclear and is not supported with an example. The body paragraphs also emphasise cultural exchange, foreign currency and disease rather than explaining specific damage to local cultures or the environment and why it is overlooked. State your degree of agreement directly, then develop relevant examples of environmental or cultural harm and how it is neglected.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Secondly” and “After discussing” help readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from travel and food to learning, relationships and currency without a clear central point, while the second shifts from disease to hygiene and crime. Some linking is mechanical, and the final paragraph introduces a recommendation without clearly connecting it to the stated position. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, use explanation and an example to develop it, and make references such as “both views” and “it” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “foreign currencies,” “mass tourism,” “local cultures” and “rules and regulations,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “a large amount of share in economy,” “reason of causing harm,” and “advantages are more to the look at.” Spelling errors such as “throghout,” “heatlh” and “unhygenic” are noticeable, and repeated use of “blessing,” “major” and “tourism” limits variety. Choose more precise collocations and check spelling: for example, say tourism “contributes significantly to the economy” and can “damage local traditions and ecosystems.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “Though tourism is a blessing” and “Although tourism has both of its advantages and disadvantages.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors recur in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “Tourism assists us by providing knowledge about a particular place” is followed by “Tourism brings closer,” which lacks a clear object; “various culture” needs a plural form, and “it has less incidents” has an agreement problem. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, and the final sentence runs several ideas together. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and proofread agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
