Student answer (Band 5.0)

Exploration is most of the highest expanding sector and collaborate a high deal to economies all over the world, while unsustainable tourism can cause to local cultures and the environment is largely disregarded. I strongly agree that tourism is the large-scale of contributes to economies around the world.

Although it is true that exploration has play a very important role in economies, I believe that for every country tourism is most important for them. For example, South Korea also use this trick, when they suffer from financial crisis, they invest in their film-industry which they show their culture. In order that people attracted from their culture and they want to explore there. In that case, they gain their economies from tourism.

This does not necessarily mean that the tourism given them only benefits because each factor has the pros and cons. That's why the damage tourism are so many individuals can face daily traffic congestion and everywhere has large buildings and the original nature had gone day by day. These facts everyone's ignored but they should focus on these things.

I strongly agree that tourism is very important for economies, mostly Asian countries suffer from them because they have lack of tourism. On the other hand, travel or industry practices that actively ruin local ecologies or buildings even nobody's focus on them and they not even fix to these things. I think it is a very important topic and we should focus of them and we need to find a solution to this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address tourism’s economic value and acknowledge harm to cultures and the environment, so the response is relevant to the prompt. However, your position is not consistently clear: the opening says you agree that tourism contributes to economies, but does not directly state whether you agree that its damage is ignored. The South Korea example gives a relevant link between cultural promotion and tourism income, yet the environmental and cultural harms are listed rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The conclusion repeats the importance of tourism without clearly weighing the benefits against the damage. The response is also 244 words, six words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop your reasons. State your degree of agreement directly and explain each main point in more depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph, and the ideas generally relate to tourism. Some linking phrases, such as “Although it is true” and “On the other hand,” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is difficult to follow because the argument shifts between tourism’s economic importance and its negative effects without a clear organising line. The South Korea example is introduced with “For example,” but the connection between film investment, cultural interest and tourism income needs clearer explanation. References such as “these things” and “them” are also unclear, while “That’s why” does not accurately express the relationship between the preceding ideas. Use one paragraph for benefits and one for harms, with clear topic sentences and precise references.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “financial crisis,” “tourism,” “traffic congestion” and “local ecologies.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but frequent inaccurate word forms, collocations and word choices sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. For example, “Exploration” is used where “tourism” is intended, and “the large-scale of contributes” does not express the intended idea naturally. Phrases such as “use this trick” and “gain their economies” are also imprecise for an academic essay. Some repetition of “important,” “tourism” and “things” limits the range. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases, such as “generate revenue,” “damage local ecosystems” and “preserve cultural heritage,” and check that each phrase fits its sentence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession structure beginning “Although it is true” and a conditional clause with “when they suffer from financial crisis.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some sentences hard to follow. Examples include “has play,” “the damage tourism are,” and “they have lack of tourism.” The opening sentence also combines several ideas in a way that obscures their grammatical relationships. Work first on accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses. For instance, separate the South Korea example into shorter sentences before adding linking clauses.
