Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism is one of a rapidly growing business and contributes a good opportunities to economics around the world. However, the harm tourism cause to local cultures and the envionment is largely unnoticed. I strongly agree that the damage is often unnoticed, which are cause by tourism.

Now, turning to the details, some poeple argue that the harm tourism cause to cultures and envionrment is not acceptable. The main reason for that is spread waste materials. Tourists throw plastics at public places, such as beaches. These plastics effects marine life as well as enviornment. Furthermore, another reason is more tourism means more pollution. Tourists are visit countries by aeroplanes, use buses, which cause pollution and effects the enviorment. For example, in many countries, tourism harm their beaches and effects their envionrment through pollution.

Moreover, tourism can cause damage to local cultures as well. People turn their local culture shops in money making businesses to just entertain the tourists. This fades the colours of local culture. in addition, another reason is damage cultural buildings. A lot of tourists are become the reason of damaging cultural building, which leads building to lose their cultural power. For instance, tourism can cause damage to culture building and local people also forget their culture and turn businesses into money making business.

To conclude, I believe that tourism contributes a good deal to economies around the world. Tourism also allows people to get employement. But, I strongly believ that the damage tourism cause is more than their positive developement. The government should focus on healhty tourism to save their local culture and the enviornment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tourism’s harm is often overlooked, and you address both environmental damage and effects on local culture. Relevant examples include plastic waste on beaches, pollution from air and bus travel, and cultural shops becoming businesses aimed at tourists. This covers the task, but some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that local people “forget their culture” is not developed with a clear explanation or specific example, and the environmental examples repeat the general point about pollution. To strengthen the response, explain how these effects occur and support each main idea with a more precise example, while also briefly weighing the economic benefits against the harms to clarify the extent of your agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on environmental and cultural effects, and a conclusion. The progression from one type of harm to another is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, linking is sometimes mechanical or repetitive: “another reason” appears in both body paragraphs, and “For example” introduces points that largely repeat the preceding claims rather than add specific support. Some references, such as “which leads building to lose their cultural power,” are also unclear. Use more varied, precise links and ensure each example clearly develops the point it follows.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “marine life,” “pollution,” “local culture,” and “cultural buildings,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “a good opportunities to economics,” “spread waste materials,” “money making businesses,” and repeated misspellings such as “enviornment” and “employement.” Some phrases, including “cultural power,” do not express the intended meaning clearly. Build a more accurate set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain impacts without relying on repeated general terms such as “damage” and “effects.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “as well as,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors occur across verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the harm tourism cause” needs a correctly formed verb, while “Tourists are visit countries” combines incompatible verb forms. In “A lot of tourists are become the reason,” the verb pattern is also faulty. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, particularly in longer sentences. Practise forming accurate present-simple statements and subordinate clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and articles. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas clearer and allow you to use complex sentences more confidently.
