Student answer (Band 6.0)

The travel industry is one of the rapidly increasing sector and has a significant importance in economic condition of the world. Although Tourism impact negatively in local cultures and environment, it is often ignored. I partly agree with this statement as tourism has both advantages and disadvantages.

On the one hand, tourism plays a crucial role in boosting national economies and generating revenue. Lets take an example of Nepal, tourism plays very important role as it is taken as the biggest source of income, opportunity for global acknowledgement, and a business. Almost 40% of economical support comes from tourism in Nepal. This field allow people to present their talents, cultures, traditions. It also encourage people to learn distinct new things. Not only for country, but also for individuals, tourism has provided some meaningful benefits. For example, People are getting job opportunities and getting a chance to know how the world outside the country really works. In short, people are adopting a more progressive mindset.

On the other hand, While enabling so many scope for people, It is also damaging the local cultures and environment. people are getting too much modernized that they are forgetting their culture, norms, values, and ethics. They are welcoming excessive amount western culture and replacing them with their own. One of the best example for this would be Nepali society, People from Nepal are now so much into foreign fashions, daily lifestyle. They are failing to recall their norms which were passed down by their Predecessors.

Therefore, there are both upsides and downsides of tourism. The only thing is while appreciating the good aspects people are just neglecting its bad aspects. This might have taken place because the advantages of tourism overshadow the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partly agree that tourism’s harms are overlooked, while recognising its economic and social benefits. The Nepal examples make the discussion relevant, and you address both sides before concluding that tourism’s advantages can overshadow its disadvantages. However, the response develops the benefits more fully than the damage. The economic contribution and employment are explained, but the environmental impact named in the prompt is not illustrated or discussed, and the cultural effects are mainly described as adopting foreign fashions and lifestyles. To strengthen the response, explain specific environmental consequences, such as waste or pressure on natural habitats, and develop how tourism causes them. This would make the treatment of the task more balanced and fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and harms, and a concluding summary. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Therefore” helps readers follow the argument, and the examples are placed in relevant paragraphs. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is occasionally loose: the benefits paragraph moves from national revenue to cultural exchange and then individual employment without clearly explaining how these points connect. Some transitions, including “Not only for country, but also for individuals,” feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly to the claim it supports; also make references such as “this field” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “generating revenue,” “global acknowledgement,” “traditions,” and “progressive mindset.” These choices allow you to discuss economic and cultural effects, and the meaning is generally clear. You also attempt less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “economical support,” “enabling so many scope,” and “excessive amount western culture.” There is also repetition of broad terms such as “tourism,” “people,” and “culture,” which limits precision. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and choose more exact language for environmental effects. For example, “economic contribution” and “the influence of Western lifestyles” would express your intended meanings more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including the concessive opening “Although…” and the contrast structure “Not only for country, but also for individuals…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “one of the rapidly increasing sector” has a number-agreement problem, while “This field allow” and “It also encourage” need singular verb forms. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “a very important role” requires an article, and several sentences begin with lowercase “people” after a full stop. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence. More accurate control of these basics, alongside your attempts at complex sentences, would make the argument easier to read.
