Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent times, there is an argument that as the tourism industry is growing faster and contributes to economies around the world, it also damages local culture and environment which is often neglected. I disagree to this statement although tourism damages our environment and culture, it also give many earning opportunities to local people and also make our relationships with foreign countries strong.
The first major reason behind my opinion is that it give many opportunities to the local people. Nowadays, many people are working on the tourists spots to get money and meet their expenditures. People are working as tourists guides, shoe-polish man and fresh juice maker. This give food to their families. For example, there is a community of tourist guides on taj mahal and every member gets salary every month through this. So, its damages can be ignored because it becomes the source of income for many families.
Another reason is that it will flexible our relationships with other countries. Nowadays, tourists come from different countries and share their reviews about the country they visit. If we treat them well and surved them with respect, it will strengthen our relationships with their countries. For example, recently, an american youtuber visited india and make video about its hospitality. As a result, US government shared some of its technology with India.
However, we can reduce the enviromental damages by giving instuctions to foreigners about cleanliness and make an organisation to clean the tourist places regularly.
In conclusion, i agree that tourism has some drawbacks, but its benefits are more significant to our countrie's nation and relations with other countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that tourism’s harms are ignored as a reason to reject its growth, while acknowledging that it can damage culture and the environment. You support this view with two relevant benefits—local employment and stronger international relationships—and give examples involving guides at the Taj Mahal and a visiting YouTuber. However, the first example mainly illustrates income rather than explaining why environmental or cultural damage can be accepted or managed. The claim that a video led the US government to share technology is also asserted without enough explanation. Your brief suggestion about cleanliness and regular cleaning is relevant, but the response would address the issue more fully by weighing specific harms against benefits and developing how they can be reduced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “The first major reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to follow. Some connections, however, are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For instance, “So, its damages can be ignored” jumps from local income to dismissing tourism’s harms, without explaining that link. The environmental suggestion appears as a separate sentence after the second reason rather than being developed in its own paragraph or clearly connected to the argument. Use clearer referencing and transitions to show how each point supports your overall position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “earning opportunities,” “hospitality,” “environmental damages,” and “strengthen our relationships.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. Examples include “flexible our relationships,” “tourists spots,” and “shoe-polish man”; these do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. There are also spelling errors such as “enviromental,” “instuctions,” and “surved,” alongside inconsistent capitalization of “Taj Mahal,” “India,” and “American.” Aim to learn topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain tourism’s cultural and environmental effects as well as its economic benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If we treat them well … it will strengthen our relationships.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “it also give” should be “it also gives,” and “many people are working on the tourists spots” has an unclear grammatical pattern. In “an American YouTuber visited India and make video,” the verbs do not agree in tense, and the article is missing before “video.” The opening sentence is also overloaded, making the relationship between its clauses difficult to follow. Build accuracy by checking subject–verb agreement and tense consistency, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
