Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays the rapidely increasing in tourism industries and it is also results in huge benefit to economies around the world. But the distruction it can cause to native cultures and the ecosystem is majorly ignored. I think tourism help local people to earn money and it also encourage to local arts and creativity but this industry also responsible for damge occur to environment. I will discuss about this in upcoming paragraph.
On the one hand, Tourism creates huge employement and business opportunities for local people. And tourism also enhance small business and handcraft items. For example, Tourists buy some decorative household product from local shops which made by local community and encourage them to create more articles. Also it increase in number of hotels and reasturants near the tourism site. Furtheremore, some historic places may give opportunity to people who can communicate well and describe the importance and history of that place. So, this way tourism help economy and people become financially independent.
On the other hand, Tourism disturbs ecosystem by emerging waste directly to environment and deforestation for developing the nearby area. Also for hotels, reasturants and shopping malls. This destroys habitats of wild animals and native species. This also damage local culture by disturbing communities with crowdy place. Government should implement some rules and regualtion for construction and also take actions to them who damage environment.
I partially agree with that tourism helps to increase economy and improve infrastructure of that place but it also results badly in damaging environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses both the economic benefits and the cultural and environmental costs, and your position is clear in the conclusion: you “partially agree” because tourism supports the economy but can damage the environment. The examples about tourists buying locally made products and tourism-related employment are relevant. However, the cultural impact is mentioned only briefly, and the environmental points—waste, deforestation and habitat loss—are listed rather than explained with a specific example or consequence. The introduction also promises to discuss the issue but does not clearly state your degree of agreement until the conclusion. Develop each main point further and explain how it supports your position, especially the effect on local culture.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding statement. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, however: “Also” and “This also” recur, while “And tourism also…” begins a sentence in a way that interrupts the flow. The final paragraph repeats the central contrast but does not fully synthesise the discussion. To strengthen cohesion, vary transitions, connect cause and effect more explicitly, and use clearer references when moving from environmental damage to cultural effects.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “deforestation,” “habitats,” “native species,” and “financially independent,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, such as “rapidely,” “distruction,” “huge benefit,” and “damage occur to environment.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “tourism” and “local people,” and “crowdy place” does not express the intended idea naturally. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning remains understandable. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “economic benefits,” “environmental damage,” and “crowded areas,” then use a wider range of precise terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a relative clause in “products … which made by local community” and a sentence explaining that tourism “disturbs ecosystem by emerging waste.” The main ideas can generally be understood, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “tourism help” needs subject–verb agreement, while “it also results in huge benefit” has an awkward grammatical structure; “which made by” also needs a correctly formed passive clause. Some fragments, such as “Also for hotels, restaurants and shopping malls,” leave the relationship between ideas incomplete. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then add complex structures with correct verb forms and punctuation.
