Student answer (Band 6.0)
Sightseeing is one of the rapidly developing industries and plays a vital role in the economies globally. Yet, the harm caused by visitors to local cultures and the environment is usually neglected.
Firstly, many tourists throw rubbish in public areas, beaches and mountains, which causes pollution and harms wildlife. For example, popular tourist destinations such as Muree and Hunza in Pakistan often face problems regarding to waste during the busy tourist seasons.
Moreover, local traditions may be affected when visitors do not respect the customs of the local people. As a result, the natural beauty of these places can be damaged, while their cultural identity may gradually disappear.
However, I confirm that these problems can be reduced using proper planning and management. Governments should intoduce strict regulations to provent littering and protect historical places. In addition, visitors should be educated about the importance of respecting local traditions and keeping the environment clean. Tourism businesses can also support local communities by hiring them as local workers and advertising traditional products. This would allow residents to earn money while preserving their culture. Therefore, tourism contributes to economic growth, its negative impacts should not be ignored.
In conclusion, I largely agree that the negative effects are often ignored. Although tourism creates jobs and boosts the economy, it can also harm the environment and local cultures. Therefore, governments and tourists should need to work together to promote responsible tourism and protect these valueable places for the future generation. They can enhace the conditions of these places easily

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you largely agree that tourism’s harmful effects are often overlooked, while acknowledging its economic benefits. You address both environmental damage and cultural effects, and the examples of litter in Murree and Hunza make the environmental point relevant. You also offer practical responses, including regulations, visitor education and support for local businesses. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The cultural impact is stated generally, without a specific example of a tradition being affected, and the final claim that places can be improved “easily” is not explained. Develop these points with a concrete example and clearer reasoning to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: it introduces the issue, presents environmental and cultural concerns, suggests solutions, and concludes with your position. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical. For example, “As a result” links cultural disrespect to damage to natural beauty, although the relationship between those ideas is not explained. The sentence beginning “Therefore, tourism contributes” also joins ideas awkwardly, and the conclusion adds a final sentence that does not clearly follow from the preceding point. Use linking phrases only where the logical relationship is explicit, and check spacing and punctuation around transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “pollution,” “wildlife,” “cultural identity,” “regulations,” and “responsible tourism.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions are attempted. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “Sightseeing” for the tourism industry, “problems regarding to waste,” and “local workers.” Spelling errors in “intoduce,” “provent,” “valueable,” and “enhace” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise, natural phrasing and proofread carefully; for instance, use “tourism,” “waste-management problems,” and “local residents” where appropriate. This would make your vocabulary more flexible and reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “rubbish … which causes pollution” and a conditional structure in “when visitors do not respect the customs.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are noticeable. “Therefore, tourism contributes to economic growth, its negative impacts should not be ignored” incorrectly joins two independent clauses; use a full stop or “although.” In “tourists should need to work together,” the modal construction is faulty: write “tourists need to work together” or “should work together.” The final sentence, “They can enhance the conditions … easily,” also has an unclear reference for “They.” Improve control of sentence boundaries and modal verbs while continuing to use varied structures.
