Student answer (Band 5.0)

Tourism contributes highly to the local economy of any country, all around the world but it might have its adverse side effects aswell. In my opinion, tourism should be promoted especially in countries with good infrastructure, landmarks, mountains, sea and so on. From a tourist point of view, people love travelling to new places, experiencing cultures, food, language and sightseeing aswell-this not just opens your mind but also helps you see the world diffrently. As governemnt, Tourism also creates a different effect on not just the economy but also on the locals- this means that when tourists visit a places, the locals also gets a chance to host them and show their culture and tradition.

A proper guide/SOP can be implemented in tourist spots for the locals to not distrupt their local enviroment by either throwing trash or interfering with their cultural norms. For example, I recently visited the north of pakistan, its such a beautiful serence place that it feels like heaven on earth but sadly the tourists have littered everywhere, which made the place torn out. The locals there told us about the history it holds and cultural value and also about the new fines imposed by their local community about littering- such practices can help in restoring the natural beauty of such places and of course help in promoting tourism more.

In my opinion, torusim can not just help with the economy but also with the social standing of a country, if right amount of effort and time is invested in promoting tourism, it can boost the economy and GDP of your country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a generally supportive position on tourism, noting its economic and social benefits, and the Pakistan example gives the response a relevant, concrete detail. However, the task asks whether you agree that tourism’s damage to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. Your answer focuses more on promoting tourism and managing litter than directly judging whether this damage is ignored. Cultural harm is mentioned through “interfering with their cultural norms,” but this point is not explained or illustrated. The position also shifts between supporting tourism and acknowledging its harms without clearly stating the extent of your agreement. Address both environmental and cultural impacts directly, then explain how far you agree and develop each reason with specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph about guidance and littering, and a concluding statement. The example from northern Pakistan also gives the middle paragraph a clear focus. However, progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The opening moves from economic benefits to tourists’ experiences and then to local hosting, while the link to the question about ignored damage remains weak. Connectors such as “aswell,” “this means,” and “of course” do not always show the relationship between claims precisely, and the final paragraph largely repeats the economic benefit rather than drawing together the discussion. Organise the body around distinct reasons—environmental damage and cultural effects—and use clear topic sentences and references to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “local economy,” “cultural value,” “littering,” “natural beauty,” and “promoting tourism.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “diffrently,” “serence,” “torusim,” and “torn out.” Some phrases are also awkward or informal for an academic essay, including “heaven on earth,” “aswell,” and “a proper guide/SOP.” Aim for accurate, formal collocations and more precise language for the effects of tourism, such as environmental degradation, cultural disruption, and visitor regulations. Proofreading spelling and choosing words that express your meaning exactly would make the argument clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “For example, I recently visited…” and the conditional structure “if right amount of effort and time is invested…”. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader pause. For example, “the locals also gets a chance” has subject–verb disagreement, while “when tourists visit a places” has an incorrect article and plural form. The opening sentence also joins several ideas with “but” without clear punctuation, and the final sentence contains a comma splice between “country” and “if.” Work on agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation. Building shorter, accurate sentences first will help you express more complex ideas reliably.
