Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that tourism is rapidly growing industries these days and provides a lot to economies all around the world. However a weak tourism can effect the culture and environment badly. While some may disagree with this view, I partaly agree with this statement because it aids the travellers to know bout the history and historical background of reknown places and also the government needs to track the activity of this particular industry.

Firstly, the primary reason for my view is that guide helps the sightseers to know interesting things about the place and this favor help th country to boost its' economy. For instance, a peraon who provides his services to holidaymakers nd in return get a suitable amount of money this factor plays a crucial role in increasing th country's economy. As a result, tourism is an important factor to support economy these days.

Secondly, another key argument is that tour guide take advantages of international or domestic travellers. They charge high amount of money from them and do not meet with their needs. Sometimes, guide provides wrong information about places and misguide them. To illustrate, if a tour guide provide wrong information about a place nd charge high mount of money feom them this matter effects the countrys' reputation and economy. Therfore, government should keep an eye on prople related to this field.

In conclusion, I partly agree with this view that tourism is rapidly growing industries these days and provides a lot to economies all around the world. However a weak tourism can effect the culture and environment badly. Although certain challenges may arise, I believe that the overall impact depends on how effectively this approach is implemented and managed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response takes a partly agreeing position and gives reasons related to tourism’s economic contribution and the need to monitor tour guides. These points are relevant, but the essay only partially addresses the question: the prompt specifically asks whether damage to local cultures and the environment is ignored, while the response focuses mainly on guides’ services, charges, and effects on the economy. The cultural and environmental harms are not explained or supported with examples, and the conclusion repeats the opening rather than resolving this gap. To strengthen the response, state clearly which harms you agree are overlooked, then develop each with a specific example and explain how it supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the progression is limited because the body paragraphs do not clearly develop the central issue of cultural and environmental damage. The first paragraph moves from guides explaining places to economic growth, while the second shifts to guides charging too much and giving inaccurate information. Repeated phrases such as “this factor” and “this matter” also make connections between ideas vague, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Build each paragraph around one clear point, link its explanation directly to the question, and use more precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “sightseers,” “holidaymakers,” “tour guide,” and “economy,” so the general subject is understandable. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, and several word-choice and spelling errors make parts harder to follow, such as “a weak tourism,” “effect” where “affect” is intended, and “misguide” in this context. There are also frequent spelling slips, including “partaly,” “reknown,” and “Therfore.” Aim for accurate collocations and proofread carefully. More precise terms for the task—such as “environmental damage,” “local traditions,” and “tourism regulation”—would help express the argument directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay attempts some complex sentence forms, including “While some may disagree with this view, I partly agree…” and “Although certain challenges may arise…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward or difficult to interpret. Examples include “tourism is rapidly growing industries,” “guide helps the sightseers,” and “a tour guide provide,” where agreement and article use are not controlled. The sentence beginning “For instance, a peraon who provides…” also lacks a clear grammatical completion. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and complete sentence construction. Shorter, carefully checked sentences would improve clarity while you build control of more varied structures.
