Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response refers to tourism’s economic contribution and its possible effects on culture and the environment, so it recognises the topic. However, it does not answer the central question of how far you agree or disagree: no clear position is stated, and the conclusion’s phrase “meaningful progress can be made agree” does not establish one. The discussion is largely generic, repeatedly referring to effects on “people and society” without explaining specific tourism-related damage or weighing it against economic benefits. Examples about education, work and personal life are not clearly connected to tourism. To improve, state your degree of agreement in the introduction, develop relevant reasons with concrete examples, and return to that position in the conclusion. Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a recognisable essay shape, with an opening, two body sections signalled by “To begin with” and “In addition,” and a conclusion. These markers show an attempt to organise the response. However, the ideas do not progress logically: the body paragraphs largely repeat the prompt and then shift to broad claims about individuals, education and society, rather than building a connected argument about tourism. Several links are unclear, including “An it effects” and “This is largely because it plays an essential role,” where the reference of “it” is uncertain. The conclusion introduces a general call for balance without summarising a developed position. Group each paragraph around one relevant reason and use clear references to connect supporting examples to that reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response attempts some topic-appropriate and formal expressions, including “short-term and long-term effects,” “local cultures,” “employment chances,” and “sustainable outcomes.” However, vocabulary is often vague or repetitive: “effects,” “people,” “society,” and “issue” recur without specifying what tourism changes or damages. Several inaccurate word choices and collocations make meaning difficult to follow, such as “the matter at hands,” “the level of progress in a nation,” and “made agree.” Spelling errors such as “eassy,” “dericision,” “direaction,” and “evaloution” also weaken control. Build a more precise tourism-related vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations; for example, name specific impacts such as pressure on local services or damage to natural habitats.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both longer sentences and shorter statements, and some basic sentence patterns are understandable. However, control is inconsistent, with errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and verb patterns. The opening includes a fragment: “Outlining key arguments, reflecting on possible consequences, and offering a justified conclusion.” Later, “It is not only influences how people lives today” combines incompatible verb forms and has subject–verb agreement problems. “It can even effects” also uses the wrong verb form after “can,” while “a crucial” has an unnecessary article. These errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Practise complete sentences and check each clause for a clear subject and correctly formed verb; then review articles and agreement in longer sentences.
