Student answer (Band 5.5)

The one of the fastest growing industry in the world is tourism, which contributes a great deal to economies around the world. Meanwhile, the damage tourism can cause to local cultures and the enviroment is often ignored. From my percepective, i partly agree with this statement as because tourism create opportunities for local people and collect funds whereas the short term profits cannot be priortise over long term damage.

Tourism contributes to local economy of area by creating jobs for guiders, drivers, hoteliers and craft people, additionaly the funds collected from tickets, can be used for the purpose of development of local area and improvments of tourist sites. for example the funds collected from makli garveyard in thatta was invested back on shuttle service for tourists, which offers free trip to all of the visitors.

Furthermore, the damage caused by visitors should not be ignored because government and business priortise short term profit over the long term effects. The damage appears slowly, while income is immediate. So it is respondibilty of authorities to ensure rules and regulations, limiting the number of visitors. enforce environmental fees, involve local people for decision making and run a camaign to promote more responsible and sustainable tourism.

In conclusion tourism is the major contributor to local economy and it should be promoted, while the certain rules and regulation should be followed so visitors can easily enjoy the great sites without causing any harmful damage to it's environmnet. The authrities should regulate check and balance of visitors and neccessary they should be fined for any miss adventure.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the issue and state a clear, qualified position: tourism brings jobs and funds, but short-term profits should not outweigh long-term harm. The examples of employment and the Makli site help make the economic case relevant, while your suggestions about visitor limits and environmental fees respond to the risks. However, the environmental and cultural damage is asserted more than illustrated, and the Makli example could be explained more clearly to show its wider significance. The response is also 242 words, eight words below the required minimum; 19 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the impacts with a specific example and ensure the response meets the minimum.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction gives your position, two body paragraphs develop economic benefits and potential harm, and a conclusion restates your view. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections are less smooth, however. The first body paragraph combines jobs, ticket revenue, and a site-specific example in one long sentence, while the shift from benefits to the need for regulation could be signposted more precisely. The final sentence also adds a new point about fines rather than neatly synthesising the argument. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph’s central point and supporting example more distinctly connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “local cultures,” “short term profits,” “environmental fees,” and “sustainable tourism,” which allows you to discuss both economic benefits and potential costs. Some less common choices are attempted, but inaccurate spelling and word choice reduce precision: “guiders,” “craft people,” and “miss adventure” do not express the intended meanings naturally. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “enviroment,” “priortise,” and “respondibilty.” These do not prevent the main argument from being understood, but they make the writing less fluent and professional. Check spelling carefully and choose established collocations, such as “tour guides,” “craft workers,” and “misconduct” or “damage,” depending on your intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “while the short term profits cannot be priortise over long term damage” and the clause beginning “because government and business…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation make the writing less controlled. For example, “The one of the fastest growing industry” has an incorrect article and singular form, and “tourism create opportunities” needs subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph is a run-on, and “the certain rules and regulation” has problems with article use and number. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
