Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the topic by discussing tourism’s economic and cultural benefits, then acknowledging environmental harm and suggesting bins and warning signs. Your position is stated as disagreement, but it is not fully clear whether you disagree that damage is ignored or disagree that tourism causes damage; this weakens the response to the exact question. The discussion also gives limited attention to harm to local cultures, despite this being central to the prompt. For example, the claim that visitors learn about traditions is not balanced with a specific explanation of how tourism may threaten them. Develop a clearer position and support both environmental and cultural points with relevant examples and explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and concerns, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “to commence with,” “Secondly,” and “on the other hand” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links feel mechanical rather than showing the precise relationship between claims. The second body paragraph, for instance, moves from litter to local responsibility for explaining cultural values without a clear transition. Referencing is also occasionally difficult to follow, as in “which represents and become famous about their places.” Organise each paragraph around one main point, then connect its explanation and example directly to that point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “boosting the economy,” “local communities,” “traditions,” and “damaging the environment,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “foreign as customers,” “separate garbage disposal,” and “surge in popularity places” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “many,” “places,” and “helps” also limits precision. Build a more reliable set of tourism-related expressions and check whether each word fits its context; for example, describe visitors as “foreign tourists” and say they “dispose of litter” rather than “separate garbage disposal.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “which” and “although,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors are frequent, and attempts at longer structures are often faulty. Examples include “There is important role of tourism,” “it also can be gone through cause,” and “which helps them to understand about how should respect,” where articles, verb forms, and clause structure are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, with missing capitals after full stops and spaces before punctuation. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while keeping the subject and verb clear.
