Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response recognises that tourism has both benefits and disadvantages, and it gives examples of places such as Murree, Islamabad and London. However, it does not answer the central question about whether you agree that tourism’s harm to local cultures and the environment is often ignored. Most of the essay describes scenery, weather, restaurants and activities, while the brief statement about disadvantages—“there are many disadvantages of tourism”—is not explained with a relevant example. The conclusion, “tourism is a very good place,” does not state a clear position on the issue. To improve, directly say how far you agree and develop reasons about environmental damage or effects on local culture, supporting each with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it begins with general comments about tourism, later introduces disadvantages, and ends with a conclusion. Some examples are grouped around destinations, which gives the reader a loose sense of topic. However, the essay is presented as one continuous paragraph, and ideas move abruptly between places, weather, people’s behaviour, restaurants and activities. Repeated openings such as “Many people” and “There are a lot of” do not show clear relationships between points. The contrast signalled by “But” is not followed by a developed discussion of harm. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons and conclusion, and connect each example explicitly to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The response uses a basic range of topic-related words, including “tourism,” “environment,” “beautiful,” “weather” and “restaurants,” and it attempts to describe places and activities. However, vocabulary is highly repetitive, with “beautiful” and “many people” appearing repeatedly, and several choices are inaccurate or unclear, such as “tourism is a very good place” and “high tourism sports.” Spelling errors—including “disscussess,” “effiel,” “resturants” and “forgiener”—also reduce control. Build a more precise set of words for the task, such as “local communities,” “cultural traditions,” “pollution” and “damage to natural habitats.” Check spelling and choose expressions that accurately describe tourism’s effects rather than relying on general praise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The writing mainly uses short, simple statements and shows an attempt to form longer sentences with examples and conjunctions. However, control of basic sentence grammar is inconsistent, and errors often make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “Tourisms has many opportunities,” “Many children and people were saw many beautiful things,” and “Many tourists enjoys colder areas,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are faulty. Sentence construction is also problematic in “There are many resturants and parks are present,” which combines two structures incorrectly. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add clauses using “because,” “while” or “which.” Pay particular attention to agreement, past-tense forms and avoiding duplicated verbs.
