Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapidly evolving world, a tourism is one of the most swiftly growing industries and makes a significant contribution to global economy. In contrast, the negative impact of tourism could be a reason of cultural and environmental damage. This essay will shed light on both viewpoints. Although the damages have several disadvantages. I strongly believe that the benifits of tourism are more significant.

One of the main reasons why tourism is considered fastest growing industry is that it provides a financial support to a country. A large amount of tourists can result rapid economic growth. For example, people are attracted to better tourist's places and spend more money on them.

Furthermore, the other reason why tourism is benificial is that people learn multiple cultures and languages which helps in a sustainable environment of a country. Therefore, it is evident that trotting is helpful for a country's economical growth.

Consequently, some people also think that exploring different countries may cause the cultural and environmental damage. For instance, different nationalities have different cultures which may differ from each other's opinions. Moreover, this can also lead to the environmental damage by thorwing trash on streets, beaches or parks which can harm people as well as the marinelife. The government should initiate programs for the betterment of a country.

In conclusion, although the damage tourism is concerning in some ways and should be improved. However, I believe that tourism is benificial overall due to rise on econimical growth and diversity in the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall preference in the introduction and conclusion: tourism’s benefits outweigh its harms. You also mention relevant economic, cultural and environmental effects, including tourist spending and litter in public places. However, the response only partially develops the task. The prompt asks how far you agree that damage to local cultures and the environment is often ignored, but your discussion mainly lists possible benefits and harms rather than explaining whether that damage is overlooked or how serious it is. Several points are unclear or unsupported, such as the claim that learning cultures helps create a sustainable environment. To strengthen the response, address the idea of ignored damage directly and explain each main reason with a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can identify the broad contrast between tourism’s benefits and harms. However, progression between ideas is limited, and some linking expressions are mechanical or do not fit the relationship between sentences. For example, “Furthermore, the other reason” repeats the same transition, while “Consequently” introduces a contrasting viewpoint rather than a consequence. The sentence beginning “Although the damages…” is incomplete and interrupts the opening argument. Paragraphs also contain ideas that are not clearly connected, such as cultural learning and environmental sustainability. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then develop it in a logical sequence with accurate, varied links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “financial support,” “cultural and environmental damage,” “diversity” and “marinelife.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors make parts of the argument less clear. Examples include “benifits,” “benificial,” “econimical,” “a reason of cultural damage,” and “a large amount of tourists.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “better tourist’s places” does not clearly describe attractive destinations, and “trotting” is unsuitable in this context. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording will help you explain economic gains and cultural or environmental costs without relying on repeated general terms such as “damage” and “growth.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which can harm people” and a concessive structure in the conclusion. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. “Although the damages have several disadvantages” is an incomplete clause, while “A large amount of tourists can result rapid economic growth” has problems with number agreement and the verb pattern after “result.” Article use is also inaccurate in “a tourism” and “the global economy,” and the final sentence combines “although” and “however” awkwardly. Practise complete clause structures, article use, subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical connection.
