Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic by mentioning tourism’s economic contribution, cultural damage and environmental harm. The Pakistan example also suggests that visitors can support the economy and appreciate local culture. However, the essay does not clearly state whether you agree or disagree with the claim that tourism’s damage is often ignored, and the ideas are difficult to interpret or are not developed with clear reasons and examples. The discussion also shifts between damage to culture, damage by local people and tourism’s benefits without explaining how these points answer the question. The response is 94 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop a clear position and support it. State your view directly, then explain and illustrate two relevant reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to move from an opening statement to discussion of cultural effects and then to tourism’s economic benefits. The reference to Pakistan gives the reader one identifiable example. However, the response is presented as one long block, so the main points are not separated into clear paragraphs, and the progression between them is hard to follow. For instance, the link between cultural damage, a country’s image and fewer visitors is not explained clearly; the final shift to tourism supporting Pakistan’s economy also needs a clearer transition. Repeated phrasing such as “the damage tourism” and “the country” does not help distinguish ideas. Use an introduction, separate body paragraphs for your main reasons, and a conclusion, with linking phrases that show contrast and cause and effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary connected with the topic, including “economy,” “culture,” “environment,” “tourists” and “bad impact,” and the Pakistan example shows an effort to use relevant terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices frequently make the message difficult to understand, as in “tourisim,” “negection,” “stachous” and “econmy.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “fastest increasing in the industries” and “country people are damage the beautiful culture things.” This limits the precision and range of the vocabulary. Build a reliable set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling; for example, use “rapidly growing industry,” “damage to local heritage” and “support the national economy.” Aim to express each idea with a clear, accurate collocation rather than repeating broad terms such as “damage” and “country.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea beginning “if the country people…” and a cause-and-effect sequence about cultural damage and visitor numbers. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals and verb forms often obscure meaning. Examples include “the tourist are vist,” “it also effect the tourisim,” and “less tourist are visit.” Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, making it difficult to identify where one idea ends and another begins. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with clauses such as “because” or “as a result.” Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and articles, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
