Student answer (Band 5.0)

Tourism plays a very important role in the economy of a country. If a country is very famous for its tourism , it creates a very good impact at its economy. Unlike other industries such as agriculture, export, import which are like the pillars of the economy; tourism is equally important. We can understand it by an example. Every year, thousands of people visit Turkiye for its scenic beauty, ever lasting traditions and culture most important of them: it's natural beauty. Tukiye earned a major percent of its economy for tourism. I have not visited It yet . But many people have dream to visit it once in life, which is a very big evidence that this country is wonderful for itd tourism. Tourism also includes how the people of that certain country or area behave towards the tourists. In Pakistan, tourism is a very fast growing industry. It is because of the hospitalit, food , culture and behaviour of Pakistani,s towars the visitors.

While on the other hand , tourism can cause damage to the local cultures in the opinion of some people. The paople who agree to this opinion says that their environment and local culture is ignored by tourism. But , I donot agree with this statement. In my opinion , tourism is not something like that. Even the tourists enjoy the culture of the country and area where they go and adopt it for fun. They do not have the intension to hurt the people or damage their environment or belongings.

At last, I would conclude that tourism is one of the mandatory factor of a country progress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall view that tourism is beneficial and reject the claim that it harms local cultures or the environment. Examples of Türkiye and Pakistan are relevant to tourism’s economic and cultural role. However, the response addresses the central concern only partially: most of the discussion explains tourism’s benefits, while the possible damage to the environment and local culture is dismissed rather than examined. For instance, saying tourists “do not have the intention to hurt” does not show that harm cannot occur unintentionally. Develop both sides of the issue with specific reasons or examples, then explain why your position outweighs the opposing view. The conclusion that tourism is “mandatory” for progress is also stronger than the argument has established.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces tourism’s economic value, presents a contrasting view, and ends with a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “While on the other hand” and “At last” signal these stages. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven. The opening moves from general economic claims to Türkiye and then Pakistan without clearly connecting each example to the argument. The contrast paragraph also repeats the claim that tourists do not intend harm instead of developing a sequence of reasons. Some transitions are awkward or overused, and the final sentence introduces a broad claim rather than summarising the position. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use clearer links between claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “economy,” “industries,” “scenic beauty,” “traditions,” and “environment,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which can make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “a very good impact at its economy,” “major percent of its economy for tourism,” and “mandatory factor of a country progress.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “hospitalit,” “intension,” and “Tukiye” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, describe tourism as “contributing significantly to the economy” and refer to “a key factor in a country’s development.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing (“If a country is very famous…”) and contrast (“While on the other hand…”). Meaning is usually recoverable, but frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the writing difficult to read. For example, “the people … behave towards the tourists” shifts awkwardly from a general idea, while “the people who agree to this opinion says” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, such as spaces before commas and the run-on construction around “culture most important of them.” Practise building complete sentences with consistent subjects and verbs, and proofread punctuation and article use.
