Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many tourists sites around the world are overcrowded and the number of tourists are growing rapidly each year. The damage tourism is causing to local culture and eco system is often neglected. I partly agree with this statement which i will discuss below with examples.

To beign with the positive side of tourism. Tourism are creating jobs and opportunities to contributes a great deal to economies of different regions. Many countries are totally dependent on tourism and running campaigns inviting people to come and explore. For example Maldives and UAE is one best examples in present world larger amount of their revenue is generated from visitors which helps different local business to keep functioning. Additionally the collected funds from tourist sites can be used in redevelopment for example in thata provisional government have started a free shuttle service from funds collected through tickets of visitors to makli graveyard.

Furhtermore Many countries today are prioritizing short term economic growth over long run cultural and enviromental damages. Many historical places, museums are full and number of people are rapidly surging. The real problem lies in not the number but available resources to manage all of that, For example the roads near some historical sites in Pakistan specially from makli grave yard to keenjhar lake are totally damaged from due to frequent movements of transport on roads.

In conculsion, The tourism supports the local economy of country, the government collect funds from various sources linked to tourism but the draw backs of tourism should not be completely ignored. Government can regulate rules and limit the number of tourists on visiting site while ensuring basic facilities for tourists like free or low cost shuttles for their movements, resturants and rest areas etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is that you partly agree, and the essay addresses both tourism’s economic benefits and its cultural or environmental costs. The examples of the Maldives and UAE’s reliance on visitors, and road damage near Makli and Keenjhar Lake, make the discussion relevant. You also offer a practical response in the conclusion by suggesting visitor limits and better facilities. However, the argument is uneven: the economic paragraph is developed more clearly than the claim about harm to local cultures, which is mentioned but not illustrated. The environmental example focuses on damaged roads, while the cultural impact remains largely unexplained. To strengthen the response, explain how tourism changes local customs or places pressure on communities, and connect each example directly to your degree of agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion with recommendations. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the first body paragraph opens with a fragment-like heading, “To begin with the positive side of tourism.” Connections within paragraphs are sometimes unclear, particularly where the example of shuttle funding follows the discussion of economic benefits without explaining the link in detail. The conclusion also shifts from weighing the issue to listing facilities. Use complete topic sentences and clearer links between each claim, example, and its significance to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “overcrowded,” “revenue,” “redevelopment,” “historical places,” and “environmental damages.” These choices allow you to discuss economic, cultural, and environmental aspects of tourism. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “tourists sites,” “running campaigns inviting people,” and “funds collected through tickets of visitors.” Spelling errors, including “beign,” “Furhtermore,” “enviromental,” and “conculsion,” also reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for more natural combinations, such as “tourist attractions,” “launching campaigns to attract visitors,” and “revenue from entrance fees.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise expressions would make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Many countries today are prioritizing short term economic growth over long run cultural and environmental damages.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The number of tourists are growing” and “Tourism are creating jobs”; articles and number are also problematic in “Maldives and UAE is one best examples.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: “To begin with the positive side of tourism” is not a complete sentence, and the long sentence beginning “The real problem lies…” contains a comma splice. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use complex structures with clearer control.
