Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is true that the tourism has become a major economic driver globally. While i agree that it brings significant financial benefits. I strongly agree that its negative impact on local cultures and the environment is often ignored.
On the one hand, tourism is vital for many economies. It creates millions of job for the people to earn money. It helps the country to gain in tourism industries for developing countries like Pakistan, tourism destinations such as Hunza, Gilgit, Swat and many more which supports thousands of local families. Government also earn revenue through visas, hotels, and taxes, which can then be reinvested.
Mass tourism can trade traditional values. When locals constantly adapt to please foreign visitors, their authentic customs, language and lifestyle begin to disappear.
In conclusion, although tourism is economically beneficial, I completely agree that its determined effects on the environment and local cultures are not given enough attention. Government should promote tourism to ensure the economic growth which cost environmental and cultural.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear position: tourism brings economic benefits, but you strongly agree that its cultural and environmental harms are often ignored. The examples of jobs, government revenue, and destinations in Pakistan are relevant, and you identify a plausible cultural effect when locals adapt customs for visitors. However, the response addresses the task only partially: environmental damage is mentioned in the introduction and conclusion but never explained or illustrated, and the cultural point is not developed with a specific example. The conclusion’s recommendation is also unclear. The response contains 156 words, below the required 250; this leaves too little space to develop reasons and examples. To improve, explain both types of harm and support each with a concrete example before concluding firmly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about economic benefits, a paragraph on cultural effects, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “In conclusion” help readers recognise the stages of the response. However, the progression is limited: the economic paragraph is followed by a brief cultural point, with no developed paragraph on environmental effects, so the argument does not build fully towards the conclusion. The opening also uses “While” to introduce a contrast but leaves it as a sentence fragment, disrupting the connection between ideas. Develop one main point per paragraph and use clear links to show how each example supports your position; this would create a more coherent line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “economic driver,” “revenue,” “traditional values,” “authentic customs,” and “local families.” These choices show an ability to discuss tourism and its effects beyond very basic language. However, several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “gain in tourism industries,” “tourism can trade traditional values,” and “its determined effects.” These expressions make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. There is also repetition of general terms such as “tourism” and “economic.” Aim for accurate collocations and more precise language for environmental harm, such as pressure on natural habitats or pollution, and check that each chosen word conveys the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and attempts some more complex structures, for example “When locals constantly adapt to please foreign visitors, their authentic customs, language and lifestyle begin to disappear.” This sentence is well controlled and clearly expresses cause and effect. However, the range is limited overall, and errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement. “While i agree that it brings significant financial benefits” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, while “It creates millions of job” and “Government also earn revenue” contain plural or subject–verb agreement errors. In “money. It helps,” punctuation and spacing also need attention. Practise combining contrasting ideas into complete sentences and check articles, plural endings, agreement, and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
