Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, tourism is one of the biggest phenomena going across the globe, tourism also plays a pivtol role to boost the country's economy and majority of the countries completely rely on tourism without tourism there GDP will fell down. However, we cannot ignore the fact that through tourism local cultures are damaged and environmental challenges occur. I partly agree with this view.

Firstly, without any doubt tourism contributes significantly in economies around the world and it is one of the fastest growing industry also, in addition tourism is also an only source for some countries to boost their economy, GDP and enhance their financial conditions too. For example, Maldives majorly rely on tourism without tourist their economy can fell down because of no other resource available.

Secondly, it is noticeably seen that tourism can damage the local cultures, traditions, festivals and occasions. For instance, Maldives is an Islamic country becuase of so many tourist visiting there it has damaged the traditions and rules of their country due to that the government of Maldvies has imposed a law for wearing certian types of clothes only. Moreover, we cannot ignore the fact of the environment is been compromised on a great extent because of tourism, people through grabage, plastic bottles into water which is slowly and gradually destroying the marine life.

In conclusion, I partly agree with this view, as far as my opinion is concerned, tourism is great because it has a major contribution in growth of the country but it can be controlled if we allow tourist to visit in one season only like summer season. Because of this step we can control the damage of local cultures as well as for the environment damage also in near future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partly agree, recognising both tourism’s economic value and its cultural and environmental costs. The response addresses the main parts of the question, and the Maldives examples make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the economic point is mainly supported by the claim that the Maldives relies on tourism, while the cultural and environmental harms receive more detail. The suggestion to restrict tourists to one season is relevant, but its feasibility and likely effects are not explained. To strengthen the response, develop each main claim with a specific explanation or example, and clarify how your proposed control would balance economic benefits against the harms.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages, and the ideas generally progress from economic benefits to negative impacts. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated use of “tourism” and “Moreover,” and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the sentence about clothing laws does not fully explain how tourism caused the change, while the final proposal follows the discussion without a clear transition or justification. Use more precise referencing and vary linking methods; also make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “economy,” “local cultures,” “traditions,” “marine life,” and “environmental challenges.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to use more formal language. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision, such as “biggest phenomena going across the globe,” “an only source,” and “the environment is been compromised.” Spelling errors, including “pivtol,” “becuase,” and “grabage,” also detract from control. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for economic dependence, cultural change and pollution would help you express your ideas clearly without relying on repeated general words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “as far as,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate. The opening joins several independent ideas with commas, creating a run-on sentence; “without tourist their economy can fell down” also has errors in number and verb form. In “the environment is been compromised,” the passive construction is not formed correctly, and “tourism is one of the fastest growing industry” has a singular–plural agreement problem. Use full stops to separate complete ideas, and check subject–verb agreement, articles and verb forms when revising.
