Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that tourism is best tool for the growth of economy around the worls while other people believe that it is negative thing for local culture and for environment as the tourist destroyed both of them. I would argue that tourism is one of the best method, that flourished the country's economy and growth.

One compelling reason why I support this notion is that toursim brings two different cultures and thoughts together. When a tourist comes in country, he saw different kinds of seasons and meet with local peoples. Also learns the local languages during his journey and experienced local food as well. This will lead to the boots in economy as he brings dollars or internation currency to our country.

Another reason is that the tourits repesents the safe side of the country. For instant, a couple of years ago, Pakistan was thought one of the dangerous country for tourism. While the authorities took vital steps in the growth of tourism. Recently a large number of individulas came to Pakistan and told the world that it is one of the best country in the world. Moreover, the local community also gets benefit such as their hotels or restuarents will be occupied during their stay in country.

Therefore, although there are some drawbacks of tourism which can attributed to the damge of natural world and local cultural, I firmly argue that these circumstances will be beneficial for the country as well as for the economic growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall preference for tourism, and your points about cultural contact, visitor spending, and Pakistan’s reputation are relevant to the topic. However, the response only partially addresses the question: it gives little explanation of how tourism damages local cultures or the environment, despite these being central to the prompt. The claim that tourists “represents the safe side” is also unclear, and the example about Pakistan is asserted rather than fully explained. Your conclusion acknowledges drawbacks but does not weigh them against the benefits or clarify the extent of your agreement. The response is also two words below the required minimum. Develop both sides of the issue and explain your position with specific, connected examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The body paragraphs each introduce a main reason, and linking phrases such as “One compelling reason,” “Another reason,” and “Therefore” help signal the progression. However, the overall argument does not develop smoothly because the discussion of cultural exchange shifts quickly to economic benefits, while the second paragraph moves from safety to local businesses without clearly connecting these points. Some transitions, including “While the authorities took vital steps,” leave the relationship between ideas incomplete. Referencing such as “these circumstances” in the conclusion is also vague. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports the specific point being made.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “local cultures,” “environment,” “international currency,” and “local community,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “compelling reason” and “vital steps.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to follow, for example “toursim,” “repesents,” and “damge.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “boots in economy” and “safe side of the country.” Choose precise, familiar collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, “boost to the economy” and “improve the country’s image” would express your intended meanings more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “although there are some drawbacks” and a relative clause in “which can attributed.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “tourism is best tool,” “When a tourist comes in country, he saw,” and “the tourits repesents,” which show problems with articles, tense, and subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “While the authorities took vital steps” is also incomplete as written. Practise building accurate sentences with consistent tense and complete clauses; for example, “When tourists visit a country, they experience its seasons and meet local people.” Proofread for articles and agreement.
