Student answer (Band 6.0)

Yes, I agree with given statement. Nowadays, tourism has become one of fastest growing and one of the bigest industries in the world. No doubt, tourism contributes a great deal to economies of many countries. But on the other hand, I largely agree that it can cause unignorable damage to local culture and environment if tourism is poorely managed. But its economical benefits cannot be neglected.

One of most prominent impacts of poorely managed tourism is on local environment. Most popular tourist destinations often experience pollution which can dissatisfy tourists. This pollution is due to poor cleaning management. Visitors leave rubbish and trash on places because they are not provided by facalities that are needed to keep clean the area. If this pollution increases to high level it can also damage wildlife and thair habitat. Wide range of deforestation occurs to build hotels and restaurants to facilitate the tourists.

The other major negative impact is on local culture. The localists sometimes change their cultural traditions to satisfy the visitors. If it is unchecked, it can cause loss of their cultural identity. People often ignore this risk because they prefer to earn money over their culture. Abundant tourists can also cause to increase living cost and can disrupt the local life if it is not properly managed. In contrast to its disadvantages, it has also unneglectable economical advantages.

In conclusion, properly managed tourism contributes a great deal to national economy. But if it is poorely managed, it can cast a negative impact on local environment and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you largely agree that tourism can harm local culture and the environment when poorly managed, while recognising its economic benefits. You address both types of harm and give relevant examples, including pollution, habitat damage, deforestation, cultural change and rising living costs. This covers the task, but some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that residents change traditions to satisfy visitors would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how this happens. The economic benefit is also mentioned several times but not illustrated or developed. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind your examples and show more clearly how the benefits compare with the harms.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: the introduction states your position, separate body paragraphs discuss environmental and cultural effects, and the conclusion restates your view. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “The other major negative impact,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. This already gives the essay a clear structure, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “In contrast to its disadvantages” shifts abruptly to economic advantages without explaining the contrast, and the final paragraph repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and make references such as “it” unambiguous. A more developed progression within each paragraph would make the organisation more flexible and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “tourist destinations,” “pollution,” “wildlife,” “habitat,” “cultural identity,” and “living cost.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt less common expressions such as “prominent impacts.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “bigest,” “poorely,” “thair,” “localists,” and “unneglectable.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “cause to increase living cost” and “cast a negative impact.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than forcing formal-sounding phrases. Proofreading spelling and checking how verbs combine with nouns would improve clarity and make your vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional clauses such as “if tourism is poorly managed” and “If it is unchecked,” as well as a relative clause in “facilities that are needed.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “one of fastest growing” needs an article, “Visitors leave rubbish and trash on places” has an incorrect preposition pattern, and “it can cause to increase living cost” has a faulty verb construction. There are also issues with articles and plural forms in phrases such as “to high level” and “their habitat.” Review article use, countable nouns and verb patterns, while continuing to practise complex sentences. More consistently accurate structures would make the argument easier to read.
