Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response attempts to discuss tourism’s economic benefits and its possible effects on culture and the environment, and it ends with a position: “i agreed this.” However, the position is difficult to interpret because the essay mainly argues that tourism helps economies and does not clearly explain whether you agree that its damage is ignored. The environmental and cultural effects named in the prompt are not developed with reasons or examples; instead, the discussion shifts to investment, transport, and terrorism. The response is also 18 words below the 250-word minimum; 33 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, state your degree of agreement clearly, address both the benefits and the alleged damage, and support each main point with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to connect ideas, using words such as “however,” “because,” and “so,” and the response moves from tourism’s economic effects to a concluding statement. However, it is presented as one long block, with no clear paragraphing to separate the position, supporting points, and conclusion. The progression is also hard to follow: the discussion moves from social media and investment to public transport, then terrorism, without explaining how these points relate to the question. Repeated use of “so” and unclear references such as “this country” make connections mechanical or uncertain. Use separate paragraphs and organise each around one clear point, with linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “tourism,” “economy,” “investment,” “public transport,” “environment,” and “cultures,” so the general subject can be recognised. However, the range is repetitive and several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, such as “the invest in the county,” “most county to aggrement,” and “it safe because terisom is not.” Spelling errors including “investers,” “terrisom,” and “aggrement” also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and avoid repeating “grow” and “country” so often. For example, describe how tourism “generates income” or “creates employment,” and refer specifically to “local traditions” or “environmental damage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to form longer sentences with reasons and subordinate clauses, for example, “if tourism are coming in the country and grown the economy,” but control is limited. Errors in subject–verb agreement and verb forms occur repeatedly: “tourism are growing,” “economy are fastest grow,” and “the invester are not invest.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also often inaccurate, while several sentences run together without clear punctuation. These patterns make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using “because,” “although,” or “if.” Check that each subject matches its verb and that each sentence has a clear beginning and end.
