Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that tourism is fastest rising sector and make strong contribution in national treasure worldwide, but vandalism by tourist to cultural things and nature is often neglected. I strongly believe that, because many tourist does not take care of the places they visit and often through thrash in that places and on many historical buildings wall their is something written by tourist such there name and symbols and all this thing are neglected by authorities. This essay will discuss in details in following paragraph.

One of the main reason to support this view, because whenever people visit tourist places there are already written do's and don't board are present, still people do follow that and even authorities sometimes ignore such things. For instances, recently I visited hill station called Mount Abu, the place is very beautiful, but there are some famous place such as lake and mountains people often visit that was so dirty with plastic rappers and plastic bottle that will harm nature even there are police officials was present action was not taken. As a result, due to such things the importance of such places may fall.

Furthermore, many historically known places faces the damage to that historic things such as forts, old mansion and old bridges, etc. For example, Udaipur is city in Rajasthan known for their heritage, I visited that place and saw many damaged structure at fort, city palace and a bridge and I saw people are carving there names on wall of palace and bridge, still people are not taking any action against them . As a consequence, this places lost their importance and may get affect by tourism in future.

In conclusion, although tourism contributes significantly to economic development, I largely agree that its harmful effects on local cultural things and nature are neglected. I believe that people should also take of those thing and contribute to economy as well as nature, while keeping importance of this places.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tourism’s harm to nature and cultural heritage is often neglected, and you address both areas with relevant examples from Mount Abu and Udaipur. The essay also acknowledges tourism’s economic contribution in the introduction and conclusion. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the Mount Abu example describes litter and a lack of action, but could explain more specifically how this damages the environment or affects local people. Similarly, the claim that damaged sites “lost their importance” needs clearer support. Develop each example by linking the observed damage to a consequence, and explain more directly why authorities or visitors overlook it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs discuss environmental and cultural damage, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “As a consequence” help show the relationship between ideas. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph, “One of the main reason to support this view, because…,” does not form a clear link or complete structure. References such as “this places” and “such things” also make it less clear exactly what is being discussed. Use more precise references and make each paragraph’s opening claim a complete, direct sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “economic development,” “historically known places,” “plastic bottle,” and “carving,” which helps communicate the essay’s main concerns. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “heritage” and “authorities.” However, word choice and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “national treasure” does not express the intended economic contribution, “through thrash” is unclear, and “cultural things” is imprecise. Spelling and word-form errors such as “rappers” for “wrappers” and “historically known” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although,” and “while,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. Examples include “many tourist does not take care” and “people often visit that was so dirty,” where agreement and clause structure are faulty. There are also errors with articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “One of the main reason,” “places faces,” and “people are not taking any action.” Punctuation is inconsistent, including the space before the full stop in “them .” Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammatical links are clear.
