Student answer (Band 5.5)
Tourism is flourishing greatly in recent years around the world. Every countries have achieved great benefit from tourism industries helping to raise economies. Although, it provides great opportunities for nation, it causes several damage to local culture and environment. I strongly agree with this statement because the harmful effect caused by overcrowed places face damages if government ignored this damages.
The primary reason is that with the overflow of tourists in many countries damages the local cultures and the surrounding environment which was often ignored by the government. One of the main reason is they dilute the local culture with western culture and their traditionals culture got mixed up with others. This also accounted for the loss of authentic local culture. It also contribute environmental pollution. If tourist is not properly guided, they throw garbage hapazardly. This eventually cause environmental pollution.
For example, international tourists bring western culture in local area. The people from that are tends to adapt western culture by influence.
On the other hand, tourism provides good oppurtunity to increase economic status of any country. This eventually boosts countries development. People from local places got Job and their business flourishes. Although, it has many advantages, the damage cause by tourism industries cannot be ignored.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that tourism can cause several types of damages to local cultures and the environment. By, developing proper managemnt strategies for tourism industries this will reduce damages and also promote benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear position in the introduction and conclusion, agreeing that tourism can harm local cultures and the environment. You also acknowledge its economic benefits, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the task is only partly developed: the cultural impact is described generally, and the example about local people adopting Western culture is not explained with a specific place or consequence. Environmental harm is limited to litter, while the prompt invites fuller consideration of damage and why it is ignored. The response is also 8 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, develop each main effect with a specific example and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on cultural and environmental harm, a paragraph on economic benefits, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The opening sentence of the second paragraph has an awkward construction, and the example that follows does not clearly connect to the preceding point. Repeated references to damage also make the argument feel circular. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its claim, and make the relationship between tourism’s benefits and harms more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “local cultures,” “environmental pollution,” “authentic local culture,” and “economic status.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “tourism industries” show an attempt to use topic-specific language. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision: “Every countries,” “traditionals culture,” “hapazardly,” and “oppurtunity” are examples. “Damage” is also repeated where more precise terms could distinguish cultural loss from environmental harm. Build a wider set of accurate collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your ideas easier to follow and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although, it provides great opportunities…” and a conditional sentence beginning “If tourist is not properly guided…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “Every countries have achieved great benefit” has agreement and number problems, while “The primary reason is that with the overflow of tourists… damages” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and articles. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument clearer.
