Student answer (Band 5.5)
One of the fastest growing industries is tourism and it plays a major role in the economies all around the world. But, along with that tourism is also affecting the cultures and environment in different places, which is ignored. From my experience, I can say that it is partially true. Tourism is affecting cultures in some ways.
Everything has a positive and negative side. If we discuss the positive impacts of tourism, we can say that tourism has contributed alot to the economies in the world. Many countries had gained such a strong economy due to the tourism. Other than that, tourism has promoted the unknown cultures, which would have never been discovered if its not for the tourism. Many unknown places has been discovered. Tourism provide people with peace of mind with such beautiful places and land escapes.
On the other hand, tourism can damage the local cultures. When the people from different countries explore other cultures, they don't respect it. Some unethical people can promote culture in wrong ways. Just because of any incident they start hating that culture. Those people who donot care about the claeanliness of a place and throw garbage any where, this could destroy the enironment. For examle, if a person spread hatred for a culture everyone will follow that and if a tourist site isn't tidy, it will damage the reputation. No one would like to go there.
In conclusion, I would say that tourism is and will be more greater industry. But if the people and tourist both contibute mutually with eachother. Rule and regulations should be made and everyone would follow them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a relevant, partly qualified position in the introduction (“it is partially true”) and discuss both tourism’s economic and cultural/environmental effects. However, the position is not maintained clearly: the conclusion mainly predicts that tourism will grow and calls for rules, rather than stating how far you agree that its harms are ignored. Several points are asserted but not explained, such as tourism promoting “unknown cultures” and people forming hatred after an incident. The example about litter and a site’s reputation is relevant, but it does not fully show the scale or consequences of environmental damage. Develop fewer points with specific explanations and examples, and make your degree of agreement explicit throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and harms, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through your ideas. You also use basic signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” appropriately. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the paragraph about harms moves from respect for cultures to hatred, then to litter and reputation without clearly connecting these points. “Everything has a positive and negative side” is a general opening rather than a focused link to the argument. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, and connect examples directly to the claim they support; clarify references such as “that” and “this.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “economies,” “local cultures,” “environment,” and “reputation.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “peace of mind” and “promote culture.” However, the range is limited and some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which can make meaning less clear: “land escapes” appears to mean landscapes, while “promote culture in wrong ways” is vague. Spelling errors such as “claeanliness,” “enironment,” and “examle” are noticeable, and repeated use of “tourism,” “people,” and “place” limits variety. Build a bank of accurate collocations for tourism’s benefits and harms, and proofread spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include “Many countries had gained such a strong economy,” “Many unknown places has been discovered,” and “Tourism provide people,” where the verb forms or agreement do not fit the subject and meaning. The final sentence, “But if the people and tourist both contibute mutually with eachother,” is incomplete and does not form a clear conditional statement. There are also problems with articles and plurals, as in “a person spread hatred.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, then check each sentence for a clear main clause.
