Student answer (Band 5.5)
toursim sector is one of the largdest economic industrie , due to it rapidly groth around the world . however , the negative impact that comes from it , which effact the local cultures and places is somehow not touched enough. i strongly agree , some tourist can damage some historical monuments , such as writing on them . also many of them smtend to throw toxic wastes like plastic bags and chemical waste not caring about the envirenment of the place they are visiting .
overall, the tourism field seems to be very profitable for many countries . but the impact some of them keep after visiting those special places might harm the locals directly . for example many of them tend to buy food and drinks after consuming them they get rid of the plastic bottels and bags in random places such as streets or even natural places like the forest .which can releas tocxic chemical waste that affect the soil, water thae plants relay on and the animals the might die by choking on one of those plastic pieces . leading to a huge loss to this special and rare apecies that the country try it best to protect them .
on the hand , one of the huge negative impact visitors leave on those places , is by destroying the image of many valuable status and building by write on them or breaking them . for instance place in the Algerian desert known as Temgad which contains and thousand years painting from people who lived in those ages , was vandalized by visitors , who tended to write thier name on it and put paint on them . which coat the Algerian government a lot of money to repear them .
in consclusion , tourism is one of bigest economical fiels for many countries . but the damge people leave in those places affect the cultur and the envirnment of the locals . i totally agree , because mose of them tend to destroy the historical monuments by writing on them and breaking them . also the toxic watsr they leave behind like plastic , which effect the wilde life there .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tourism’s effects on local culture and the environment are often overlooked. You address both areas with relevant examples, including litter harming wildlife and visitors vandalising historical sites, and the Temgad example gives your cultural point useful specificity. This meets the task well. To make the response more fully developed, explain more directly how tourism’s economic benefits compare with these harms, since the prompt foregrounds its contribution to economies. Some consequences are asserted rather than explained—for example, the link between plastic waste and damage to soil, water, and wildlife could be made more precise. Your conclusion restates your view, but could synthesise the two arguments more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate discussion of environmental and cultural damage, and a conclusion. The examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your main points. However, progression within sentences and between ideas is sometimes difficult to track. The opening paragraph introduces several claims quickly, while the environmental paragraph becomes a long chain of consequences. Connectors such as “overall,” “but,” and “for example” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. The phrase “on the hand” also leaves the contrast unclear. Use clearer topic sentences and divide long explanations into shorter, logically linked sentences; make references such as “them” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “historical monuments,” “toxic waste,” “vandalized,” and “wildlife,” and these choices help communicate the subject of tourism’s effects. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing plastic waste and damage to ancient paintings. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are very noticeable, including “toursim,” “envirenment,” “bottels,” and “economical fiels.” Some combinations are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “negative impact that comes from it” and “destroy the image” when you mean physical damage. These issues sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing precise collocations, rather than relying on repeated general terms such as “damage” and “places.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences that explain causes and consequences, so there is some variety in structure. The main ideas are usually recoverable, but control is limited: complex sentences often become incomplete or difficult to follow. For example, “which can releas…” is attached to a long sentence without a clear grammatical structure, and “leading to a huge loss…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. There are also recurring problems with sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “the animals the might die” and “the country try it best.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. Aim first for accurate complete sentences, then add subordinate clauses carefully and check that each pronoun has a clear reference.
