Student answer (Band 5.5)
Tourism, around the world, referred as the rapidily growing industries and plays an important role in economics. Whereas, it may result in damage to local cultures and the enviornment. Although, tourism is beneficial for the finances of the country but I strongly agree, this is causing the destruction of local cultures and surroundings including the historical buildings and causing pollution.
The places that are open for tourists are more likely to be polluted that makes the survival of the residential species in danger. Moreover, visitors do not pay attention or follows the rules of the place. For instance, there was a beach in the Thailand that was open for the outsiders. However, this island was playing a vital role in the Thailand's economy but it was also costing the wildlife decay. So, its government decided to ban this spot and preserve the endanger fish.
Whereas, tourism also promotes the different cultures of the world. This enhances the respect and knowlegde of others values. Although, some people do not give respect to other cultural values. But mostly proponent love to explore the new beliefs and rituals. For example, some people invest their money to go to pakistan to explore its cultural values, eye catching view and hospitality. But some opponents belief pakistan is not a safe place. So, the opponents damge the local culture values.
In conclusion, although tourism is an essential part of the country's wellbieng in terms of finance but the unethical behaviour of the visitors towards the local places and cultures is concerning and this is causing serious damage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tourism can damage local cultures and the environment, while acknowledging its financial benefits. You address both environmental harm, using the Thailand beach example, and cultural effects, including visitors’ interest in Pakistan. These are relevant examples, but some ideas are less fully explained than others. The beach example shows a government ban and danger to wildlife, yet the specific damage caused by tourists could be made clearer. The cultural paragraph also shifts between tourism promoting cultural understanding and opponents’ views of Pakistan, without fully explaining how those views damage local culture. Develop each example with a clearer cause-and-effect link and explain how it supports your overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The environmental and cultural points are separated into different paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the main topics. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear. In the second body paragraph, the move from cultural exchange to people who consider Pakistan unsafe, and then to damage to cultural values, needs a more explicit connection. Several transitions, including “Whereas,” “Although” and “But,” are used awkwardly or repeatedly, making the links between ideas feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it illustrates; also ensure pronouns such as “this” and “they” have unmistakable references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “local cultures,” “wildlife,” “preserve,” “rituals” and “hospitality.” These choices show some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “rapidily,” “enviornment,” “knowlegde,” “endanger fish” and “belief” where a different form is needed. Some collocations are also unnatural: “wildlife decay” and “cultural values” being damaged by “opponents” do not express your intended meaning clearly. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “harm to wildlife,” “local traditions” and “visitors who disregard local customs.” Proofreading spelling and checking word forms would make your ideas easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “For instance,” and you communicate the broad argument. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in sentence formation, agreement and articles sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Tourism, around the world, referred as…” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase, while “visitors do not pay attention or follows” has inconsistent verb agreement. “Although” is also used in sentence fragments or paired awkwardly with “but,” as in the conclusion. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation when revising.
