Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, travelling has become a major stress relief activity for people of all ages. As a result, it is often argued that tourism creates positive impacts on particular country in different sectors but nevertheless, some people believe it could act as a downfall factor from some perspective yet it is neglected.

Firstly, tourism can be a primary revenue source for all kinds of business and also, for a country. As many people are getting more interested in travelling, they tend to invest more time and extra money on a trip. It creates a postive impact on the businesses and the countries that they decided to spend on. For instance, In Thailand, due to the study of national GDP, tourism contributes to the country with around 20% of country's income and support employee rates with high demand.

On the other hand, travelling could be directly propotional to the number of pollution and destroyed cultures. As the foreigners are getting populated in an area, there is a higher chance for them to ruin the place by dissipating litter and destroying cultural arts. Nonetheless, these facts are being ignored by the power of money. For example, in Thailand, it can be seen that by a comparison of the pollution data between high travelling season and low travelling season. There is a visibly large amount of pollution in greater tourist season.

In light of the above, I firmly believe tourism can benefit from some point of view such as the business sector but at the same time, it should be considered as a threat to our environment. Therefore, it is important for authorised people to make wise decision on handling tourists and, create sustainable attraction sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the issue and give a clear, balanced position: tourism supports businesses and national income, but can also harm the environment and cultural sites. The Thailand examples are relevant, and the reference to tourism’s contribution to GDP helps support the economic point. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that visitors destroy cultural arts would be stronger with a specific mechanism or example, and the pollution comparison is mentioned without explaining what the data shows or how tourism causes the increase. Your conclusion recommends sustainable management, but could connect this proposal more explicitly to the harms discussed. Develop these points with clearer evidence and explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and harms, and a concluding position. The contrast between “Firstly” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the main progression, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant arguments. This coherent organisation meets the lower-band expectations, with some signs of stronger control. To make the progression more consistently smooth, avoid linking ideas mechanically with phrases such as “In light of the above” when a direct summary would work better. Some connections are also unclear: “these facts” does not precisely identify which harms are being ignored, and the opening sentence does not lead clearly into the debate. Use more precise referencing and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “revenue source,” “national GDP,” “pollution,” and “sustainable attraction sites,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. For example, “downfall factor” does not clearly express the idea of a negative consequence, while “directly proportional to the number of pollution” is an unsuitable collocation. Spelling errors such as “postive” and “propotional” are noticeable, and phrases such as “getting populated in an area” are awkward. Choose simpler, accurate wording where needed, and check spelling and collocations carefully to make your meaning more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “As” and “but,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction and the use of articles, plurals, and agreement. For instance, “on particular country” needs an article, and “the number of pollution” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern; “a higher chance for them to ruin” also needs a more suitable construction. The final sentence’s comma before “create” interrupts the connection between the verbs. Work on building accurate complex sentences and checking article use, singular and plural forms, and punctuation. These corrections would make the response more controlled without sacrificing variety.
