Student answer (Band 5.0)

One of the rapidly growing industries around the globe is tourism which contributes as a major part to countries economy but there should be some stricker SOPs that needs to be implemented to control the damage it does to local culture and enviornment.

Without a doubt tourism playes a very significant role in contribution to the countries economy and infact some depends heavily on their tourism like Azerbaijan. Last year, I went there to spend my annual vacation and I was amazed to see the number of foreigners. Toursit were seeing enjoying the vibe, exploring different locations, trying local food including me.

In my point of view there should be some definite rules that needs to be implemented to control the damage caused to local cultures and enviornment. I went to the beach on working day in Azerbaijan and there were alot of trash that people left behind which indicates that those were mostly from foreigners. If you are visiting a country to explore the culture you should respect the cultural boundries and save the enviornment as you are representing your own country.

Tourism is one of the most rapidly growing sector as its contribution to countries economy is very visible around the world and countries heavily depends on this sector but there have to be some strict SOPs for tourists specially to where local culture and enviorment needs to be handled as priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a relevant position: tourism brings economic benefits, but rules are needed to limit harm to culture and the environment. The Azerbaijan visit and the litter on the beach provide a personal example, so the response is connected to the question. However, the position is not fully developed: the essay gives little explanation of how tourism damages local cultures, and the beach example mainly illustrates environmental harm. The conclusion repeats the need for strict rules rather than drawing together the reasons. The response also falls 16 words short of the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop both types of harm and explain how proposed rules could address them.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic essay structure, with an opening, two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph. The ideas are generally grouped by purpose, and phrases such as “Without a doubt” and “In my point of view” signal the writer’s stance. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph largely repeats the introduction, and the second and third paragraphs do not build a clear sequence of distinct reasons. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “which indicates that those were mostly from foreigners”; the reference to “those” is not precise, and the claim does not follow securely from the observation. Use each body paragraph to develop one clear point, connect examples explicitly to that point, and avoid repeating the same claim in the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “tourism,” “local culture,” “foreigners,” and “environment,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “annual vacation” and “cultural boundaries.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “stricker,” “enviornment,” “Toursit,” and “alot.” Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “contributes as a major part to countries economy” and “Tourists were seeing enjoying the vibe.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for the effects of tourism—such as “cultural disruption,” “littering,” or “visitor regulations”—would help you explain your position with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in the opening and conditional language in “If you are visiting a country…”. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Agreement and verb-form errors occur in “tourism playes” and “countries heavily depends,” while “there should be some definite rules that needs to be implemented” has a mismatch between the plural noun and verb. Articles and possessives are also inconsistent, as in “countries economy.” These errors recur and sometimes make the intended relationships harder to follow. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and sentence boundaries, then build longer sentences around one clear main clause.
