Student answer (Band 6.0)
Tourism is one of the fastest rising industries and it helps the local economies around the world. However, it can harm the local cultures and the enviroment which is usually ignored by people. I partly agree with this view because tourism can damage local traditions and the environment, although its economic benefits are also important.
One of the major drawbacks of tourism is that it effects the local culture. Local people may change their customs and traditions to attract the foreigners. Futhermore, local people may get influence from the other culture and it may end at forgetting their on. If I talk about the enviromental effects, many foreiners may throw waste on roads or spread litter on local beaches. It could effect the wild and the local life. Other drawback is that construction on natural sites may effect the beauty of area and it can also disturbe the wild life of animals.
On the other hand, if i talk about its benefits, tourism has given alot of advantages to those societies and countries who promotes their modern or natural sites. One of the greatest benefit is that it helps local economy and generate great wealth. Goverment could spend revenue to their infrastructure or to minimise the poverty level. it helps to generate more job opportunities for nationals. Futhermore, countries can promote their culture in more effective way. Today's world, social media is the greatest way to promote culture, civilization and local life. For instance, Dubai is the most favourite tourism spot for every person now a days. they get major part of revenue from just tourism.
To conclude, tourism can damage local culture and the enviroment but by developing strict policies and regulations, every country can overcome to these issues. Futhermore, every country should promote more tourism to help their economies and it should help to present better side to the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you partly agree because tourism can harm culture and the environment, while its economic benefits matter. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including litter, construction near natural sites, employment, infrastructure and Dubai’s tourism revenue. This meets the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, you say customs may change to attract foreigners, but do not show how this happens or why it threatens local identity. The Dubai example also supports economic benefits more than your overall balanced position. To strengthen the response, develop fewer points with specific cause-and-effect explanation and make the conclusion’s recommendation for more tourism consistent with your qualified position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on disadvantages, a paragraph on benefits and a conclusion. The contrast between the two main body paragraphs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help readers track the argument. This is a sound foundation. At times, however, linking is mechanical or unclear. Repeated openings such as “if I talk about” interrupt the formal flow, while “Futhermore” is used to add points without always showing their relationship. Some references are also vague, as in “it may end at forgetting their own,” where the intended meaning is difficult to follow. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s ideas progress through clear explanation and examples.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss tourism, including “customs and traditions,” “local beaches,” “infrastructure,” “poverty” and “job opportunities.” This allows you to communicate the main ideas, and some phrases are relevant to the topic. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “local,” “people” and “help,” and several word-choice or spelling errors reduce precision: “effects” for “affects,” “foreiners,” “enviroment,” “alot” and “promotes” in “countries who promotes.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “overcome to these issues” and “present better side.” Build a more precise range of collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make the argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although its economic benefits are also important” and conditional phrasing in “if…”. The main message remains understandable, and the essay is organised into complete sentences. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. Examples include “it may end at forgetting their on,” “Goverment could spend revenue to their infrastructure,” and “every country can overcome to these issues,” where grammatical patterns or sentence construction are faulty. There are also agreement and article problems, as in “One of the greatest benefit” and “countries who promotes.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and sentence starts such as “it helps.” Practise accurate clause construction, agreement and articles while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
