Student answer (Band 5.5)

We cannot neglect the economic impact of tourism on coumtry's economy, however people often ignored the cost of economic impact, often labeled as local culture damaged and environmental destruction. I completely agree with the statement that tourism industries are source of major economic boosts for countries around globe , however we cann't oversee the effects of tourism on local communities and environment.

With time tourism became one of the fastest growing industry and contribute towards country's economy. A lot of countries run their economies on tourism . In Thailand, governament's main priority is tourism as it is rated as famous tourist holiday spot. Furthermore, research indicates the colombians brothels attracted tourists and it contributed significantly in economic growth.

On the other hand, demerits of tourisms cannot be neglected. Tourism has broadly impacted local cultures and degraded environments. Western culture is imposed on local communities particularly in subcontinent and Asia. Additionally, lack of sense of responsibility by tourists has vastly contaminated environment. Throughing plastics, glasses and other stuffs at tourists spot has generated profound impact. More tourists resulted in more traffics and more infrastructure which hinder environment.

I would like to argue at end, economic benefits of tourism industry cannot be overlooked, moreover effects of tourism cannot be foreseen as well. Governament should make sure proper cleanliness arrangements on tourists spots as well as make sure tourists follow cultural and legal rules and regulations of that country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear overall position by saying, “I completely agree,” and discuss both the economic benefits and the cultural and environmental costs, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the argument is only partly developed: the Thailand example is brief, while the reference to “colombians brothels” is unclear and does not explain how it supports the point about tourism’s economic contribution. The conclusion also shifts towards government measures without fully clarifying how these address the harms raised. The response is 14 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main point with a clear explanation and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on economic benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. The contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal the change in focus, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt: the move from Thailand to the Colombia example is not explained, and the environmental points are listed rather than linked into a clear chain of reasoning. Some linking expressions, such as “moreover” in the conclusion, do not express the relationship between the ideas accurately. Improve cohesion by grouping related points, using clear references to earlier ideas, and explaining how each example supports the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “economic impact,” “local cultures,” “degraded environments,” and “infrastructure,” which helps communicate the main subject. There is also some effort to use less common expressions, such as “profound impact,” although several combinations are unnatural or imprecise. For example, “economic boosts” and “more traffics” do not fit standard usage, while “tourists spot” is repeated and “other stuffs” is vague. Spelling errors such as “governament,” “Throughing,” and “cann't” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range by learning common collocations for tourism and environmental effects, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including the opening contrast and the sentence beginning “Additionally, lack of sense of responsibility…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read smoothly. Examples include “tourism became one of the fastest growing industry and contribute,” where tense and subject–verb agreement are inconsistent, and “Western culture is imposed on local communities particularly in subcontinent and Asia,” where articles are missing. The opening sentence also joins contrasting clauses with a comma rather than clear punctuation. Practise accurate agreement, articles, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
