Student answer (Band 5.5)
Tourism is a better instustry which progresses fast and plays an important role in economy globally. However, it has been argued by people that it is also the cause of destruction of sorround cultures and environment. I completely agree with the statement.
Firstly tourism is a good industry nowadays which can help any nation financially. In developing counties, in some cities it is the major source of income. For example in Bangladesh, Cox'sbazar's local people earn a lot from tourism. A lot of families main income comes from tourism in that city.
But, we should keep in mind that the burden of tourism is also harming the local culture and environment. For example, sometiems tourists are not aware of the hazards of using plastic. Sometimes noice pollution ,air pollution, water pollution become severe that it endangers the local animals and fishes. Like, in Saint martin Iceland, governmnet of Bangladesh had to close the tourism for few months to save the environment of the iceland.
it is a high time, our countries should keep a careful eye in tourism to make it a successful and beneficial industry. Also they should take measures to impose strong steps to save the environment and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you state, “I completely agree,” and discuss both economic benefits and harm to culture and the environment. The examples from Cox’s Bazar and Saint Martin’s Island make the response relevant, and the account of tourism being closed to protect the island supports your concern. However, the discussion gives more space to tourism’s benefits than to explaining the damage, and the cultural impact is mentioned but not illustrated. The conclusion recommends monitoring tourism but does not fully develop how this would address cultural as well as environmental harm. The response is also 50 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop reasons and examples. Extend the explanation and support each main point more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on economic benefits, a paragraph on negative effects, and a concluding recommendation. “Firstly” and “But” help signal the shift between points, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. However, the progression is quite basic, and some links feel mechanical or unclear. The opening of the third paragraph, “But, we should keep in mind,” could connect more smoothly to the previous point, while “Like” introduces the island example informally. The final paragraph moves quickly from the problems to a broad recommendation without summarising the argument. Use clearer links between claims and evidence, and develop each paragraph around one fully explained main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “source of income,” “plastic,” “noise pollution,” and “environment,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “major source” and “impose strong steps.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “better industry,” “sorround cultures,” and “keep a careful eye in tourism.” Spelling errors such as “instustry,” “sometiems,” and “governmnet” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for cultural effects—such as disruption to local customs or pressure on heritage sites—would also help you explain the task more fully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate your main points using mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to add detail through longer sentences. For example, “Sometimes noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution become severe that it endangers…” attempts a complex relationship, but the clause structure is faulty; it would be clearer as “can become so severe that they endanger…”. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “A lot of families main income comes…” and the lower-case, detached “it is a high time” at the start of the conclusion. Commas and spacing are inconsistent. Practise combining clauses accurately and check subject–verb agreement, possessives, articles, and punctuation. Greater control of these patterns would make your meaning easier to follow.
