Student answer (Band 5.5)

Tourism is developing in a fastest way and huge part of worls's economy is produced by tourism. In contrast, the harmful affects of tourism on local culture and environment is often overlooked. I agree with this statement ans this essay will prove this by examples.

In the present era, majority of people love to explore different places around the world. They spend a lot of money to visit diffent local and internation places, which contributes to world's economy. It is pluse point of tourism but there are a lot of drawbacks too. People love to explore world for enjoyment and to know about different places. For instance a lot of international and local people visit northern areas of Pakistan each year. Although, it is beneficial for Pakistan's economy but it causes enviromental pollution. A vast number of vehicles cause air pollution, due to this there is sudden changes in climate and cause global warming.

An other detrimental affect of tourism is expoliting local culture. As most of the tourism choose historic places or hill station for tour. Consequently, when a vast majority come to this kind of places they will harm it's local culture and historic places. Tourism is improving the economy of the world but it has alot of harmful affects on environment and local culture. But the damages are being often neglected.

In conclusion, I strongly agree with this statement that although, tourism is beneficial for world economy but the damages of tourism is largely ignored. They should the be take into account.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tourism’s harm to culture and the environment is often overlooked, and you give relevant examples, including vehicle pollution in Pakistan’s northern areas and damage to historic places. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because the reasons are not developed in enough detail. For example, you mention climate change and global warming, but do not explain the link between tourist traffic and these effects or provide specific supporting detail. The cultural point is also broad: you say visitors harm local culture and historic places without showing how this happens. To strengthen the response, explain each cause and consequence more fully and support your claims with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The environmental and cultural points are separated into different paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the main topics. You also use linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “For instance,” and “Consequently.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Although, it is beneficial for Pakistan’s economy but…” combines two contrasting linkers, while “An other detrimental affect” introduces the next point awkwardly. The conclusion repeats the introduction rather than drawing the two arguments together. Use linking words more selectively, make references such as “this kind of places” precise, and ensure each paragraph develops one clear point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “local culture,” “environmental pollution,” “air pollution,” and “global warming,” so the reader can understand the main subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “harmful affects” for “harmful effects,” “pluse point,” “expoliting,” and “diffent.” Phrases such as “developing in a fastest way” and “a lot of harmful affects” are also unnatural or repetitive. Build a more accurate set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise wording would help you explain the effects of tourism without relying on broad phrases such as “harm” and “a lot.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “Although” and a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “A vast number of vehicles cause air pollution.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. For example, “the harmful affects … is often overlooked” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “Although, it is beneficial … but it causes” uses an incorrect clause pattern. The final sentence, “They should the be take into account,” is difficult to interpret because its word order and verb form are incorrect. Practise building accurate sentences with although/while, and check agreement and verb forms before adding more complex clauses.
