Student answer (Band 5.0)
Globally, tourism has been considered as popular contributor in the industry and economy. Although there are some negative impact of this to local cultures and environment. I strongly agree with this viewpoint.
Firstly, tourism has been a big part of the globalisation aspect for every country. This is because, it creates connection to every country by promoting the culture which attracts foreigners to visit and enjoy the scenery. For example, foreigners can come to the Philippines, The country will offer multiple options for to choose from for holiday and through this promotion, other countries will start investing in the Philippines and it will be beneficial to the economy. As a result, people will enjoy the holiday while promoting the country and helping boost the economy.
On one hand, there are some negative effect of tourism to the local culture and environment. This is due to the reason that people may feel threaten with the increase of foreign nationals whonare visiting and this will create tension because local people will think that tourists will take over their communities. Moreover, a high number of tourists can cause impact to environment due to pollution. People tend to have no discipline and just throw used items everywhere.
In conclusion, Both side have merits. However, I strongly agree that tourism has a great impact in the economy and industries worlwide.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear view in the introduction (“I strongly agree”), and you include relevant points about tourism’s economic benefits, cultural tensions and pollution. However, the response does not fully develop the question of whether damage to culture and the environment is often ignored. The body gives more attention to tourism’s benefits than to this claim, and the conclusion shifts to its economic impact rather than restating your position on the damage. The example of the Philippines is relevant but general, while the claims about residents fearing tourists and visitors littering need explanation or evidence. The response is also 25 words below the required minimum. Develop both sides of the issue and make your final position directly answer the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph focuses on economic benefits, while the next begins “On one hand” without a corresponding “on the other hand” structure. The conclusion’s “Both side have merits” does not clearly connect to your stated agreement or the preceding discussion. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “through this promotion” and “As a result,” where the relationship between promoting culture, investment and economic benefit could be made more explicit. Organise the essay around the task’s central claim and use transitions to show how each point supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “foreigners,” “investing,” “pollution” and “communities.” These choices make the general subject clear, and you attempt phrases such as “boost the economy.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “popular contributor in the industry and economy,” “negative impact of this,” and “cause impact to environment” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “People may feel threaten” also uses an incorrect word form, and “whonare” appears to be a typing or spelling error. Aim for precise phrases such as “a major contributor to the economy” and “damage the environment,” and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a result clause (“As a result…”). Most of the meaning remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement are noticeable. The opening “Although there are some negative impact…” is a fragment, and “tourism has been considered as popular contributor” has problems with the article and construction. Other examples include “there are some negative effect” and “people may feel threaten,” where agreement or grammatical form is incorrect. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “For example, foreigners can come to the Philippines, The country…” Practise complete sentences, subject–verb agreement, articles and accurate clause joining; then proofread for sentence boundaries.
