Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify relevant broad patterns, including the rise in women’s licence-holding by 2006 and the lower figure for men aged 21–29 compared with 1975/76. You also note that men generally had higher rates than women. However, the response only partially summarises the chart: it lacks a clear, accurate overview of the main contrasts across both sexes and age groups. The claim that all men and women had higher rates in 2006 is incorrect, since men aged 21–29 fell from about 78% to 70%, while the youngest men changed little. The description of women’s rise and fall is also imprecise: their peak was around ages 40–49 in 2006, but the figures then decline through older groups. Select a few key comparisons and report them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the subject, gives general comparisons, and then discusses women separately. Connectors such as “But” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening is not a complete sentence and several ideas are crowded together without clear grouping. The final sentence about the lowest points is confusing and does not clearly distinguish the two years or sexes. Organise the report into a brief introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs—for example, one comparing men across years and one describing women. Use linking phrases only where they clarify a specific contrast.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “ratio,” “highest point,” “gradually,” and “decrease,” so the reader can recognise the general subject and trends. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make comparisons less clear. “Holding driving licence” is repeated where more natural terms such as “licence holders” or “the proportion with a licence” would be clearer. “High ratio” is not an appropriate collocation for a percentage, and “the highest age of the men” does not express the age group with the highest rate. Pay attention to spelling as well, including “arround.” More precise vocabulary for proportions, peaks, and declines would help you describe the data efficiently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences and some subordinate structures, such as “The highest age of the men that they holding…” and the sentence describing women’s trend. However, these attempts are often faulty, and many sentences lack reliable control of basic grammar. For example, “In 2006 all the women and men holding driving licence having high ratio” has no clear main verb, while “women gradually move up holding driving licence” uses an unsuitable verb form and omits necessary grammatical elements. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “from 1975-76.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then add clauses using patterns such as “The proportion of women rose from… to…” and “whereas the figure for men…”.
