Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response provides a summary of the main features, but it is incomplete. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, failing to finish the comparison of the data for women. While the overview identifies the general trend that men hold more licenses than women and that figures increased over time, the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete data reporting significantly impact the task achievement. To improve, ensure all data points are fully described and the response reaches a natural conclusion, covering all relevant categories presented in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the unfinished final sentence. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition' and 'On the other hand' are used, but the overall flow is hindered by the abrupt ending. To improve, focus on ensuring that each paragraph is fully developed and that transitions between sentences are smooth. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a concluding summary makes the overall structure feel incomplete.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing for the description of trends and percentages. There are some minor errors, such as 'approxiamately' (spelling) and 'license' (which should be 'licence' in British English context). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated,' 'peaked,' or 'remained stable,' and ensure consistent spelling throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The bar charts compares' (subject-verb agreement) and 'the age group between the age of 55 to 59' (redundancy). Additionally, the sentence 'both the male and the females in Britain got their full driving license in 2006 than in 1975/76' is grammatically awkward and lacks a comparative structure. Improving control over subject-verb agreement and comparative phrasing will help increase the accuracy of your writing.
