Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While the student identifies some main features, such as the age groups and the comparison between sexes, the analysis is fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary. The trends over time are mentioned but are not clearly explained or supported by specific data points from the graph. To improve, the student must provide a more detailed overview, select more representative data points, and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a full analysis of the information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks a clear logical structure. It is written as a single, short paragraph that does not effectively group information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the progression of information difficult to follow. For instance, the transition between the age-based analysis and the time-based comparison is abrupt. To improve, the student should use clear paragraphing—one for the overview and one or two for the detailed comparisons—and incorporate linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'diffar' instead of 'differ' and 'rose' used as a noun where 'increase' or 'growth' would be more appropriate. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately; for example, 'big percentage' is imprecise. To reach a higher band, the student needs to use a wider range of academic vocabulary, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuate', 'peak', and 'significant', and ensure correct spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The graph illustrate'), missing articles ('by teen'), and awkward sentence structures that make the meaning unclear. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, poorly constructed sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, correct use of articles, and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
