Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to address the task. The summary is incomplete, failing to report on the main features or provide a comprehensive comparison of the data provided in the graph. The response stops abruptly after only a few sentences, meaning the majority of the data trends remain unaddressed. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including a clear overview and detailed supporting data for all age groups and years mentioned. You need to expand your analysis to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of a body paragraph structure makes it difficult to follow the information. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the text ends mid-sentence, which disrupts the flow of information entirely. To improve, ensure you structure your response with a clear introduction, a distinct overview, and at least two body paragraphs that group data logically, using linking words to connect your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are noticeable spelling errors, such as 'liscence' and 'rwas', which hinder the clarity of the text. The range of vocabulary used is insufficient to describe the data trends effectively. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'reached a peak'. Additionally, ensure you proofread your work to correct basic spelling mistakes that detract from your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that impede communication. Examples include 'The bar chart compare' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'male rwas in average proportion' (incorrect word choice and spelling). The sentence structures are very simple, and the incomplete nature of the final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensure your sentences are complete. Practice using a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
