Full car driving licence holders: by sex and age
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given graph illustrates the information about full car driving licence holders in Great Britain by gender and their age in 1975/76 and 2000. I will summarize the main features of given information and do comparisons where required.
It is clearly seen that the number of males is dominent who held the driving licence in those specific years as compare to women. Additionally, in terms of age females who are 70 or above the age the percentage of having the car driving licence is quite lesser than the male population. But this percentage slowly improved with passing years among women wheareas still didn't cross the number than male population.
The women and men both genders aged between 21-49 had the similar percentage of auto driving licences as compare to teenagers and elders.
to summarize it, whether its a age or gender its a men population who had the more number of driver licences as compare to women.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to adequately report the main features of the data. While it identifies that males held more licences than females, it lacks specific data points or comparisons between the two years (1975/76 and 2000). The description is overly vague, using phrases like 'quite lesser' and 'slowly improved' without referencing the actual percentages provided in the graph. Furthermore, the response does not highlight the significant trends, such as the narrowing gap between genders or the peak age groups. To improve, you must select key data points to support your observations and provide a more detailed analysis of the trends over time.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is slightly repetitive, and the transition between the general overview and the specific details is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally' and 'whereas', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not clearly link the ideas. The final paragraph is very brief and does not effectively synthesise the information. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, focused topic would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'dominent' (spelling error), 'auto driving licences', and 'men population'. The phrasing is often unnatural, for example, 'the number of males is dominent who held the driving licence'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant increase', or 'gender disparity', and ensure correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'as compare to' (should be 'compared to'), 'whether its a age or gender' (missing articles and incorrect structure), and 'the number than male population' (incorrect comparative structure). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the control over basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and article usage, is inconsistent. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will help improve your score in this criterion.
