Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles with clarity and accuracy. While you identify some trends, the description of the data is often confusing, particularly when comparing the two years (1975/76 and 2006). You mention specific age groups, but the comparisons are frequently inaccurate or difficult to follow, such as the claim that women's license holding peaked at 40-49 in 1975/76, which is not clearly supported by the provided data. The response also ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the task incomplete. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the two years and focus on the most significant trends rather than listing individual data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing and unclear referencing. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes misused, such as 'In term of percentage' and 'Relatively'. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. Furthermore, the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the coherence of the final paragraph. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Conversely', 'Furthermore') and ensure each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'percentage', 'figure', and 'higher'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'women percentage accounted higher' and 'lowest figure' (instead of 'lowest percentage'). Spelling errors, such as 'lisence' and 'yearrs', also detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'proportion', 'significant increase', 'decline', and 'peak', while ensuring correct spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'women percentage accounted higher'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The attempt to use complex sentences is limited, and the errors in basic grammar are persistent. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over sentence structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
