The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Full car driving licence holders: by sex and age

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given bar charts illustrate the proportion of individuals holding full driving licence by men and women in 1975 and 2006.

Overall, the majority of men had full driving licence in both the years except 17-20 years old . In contrast, the proportion of women holding a full-driving licence increased considerably from 1975 to 2006.

In case of men, the proportion of licence holders who belonged to 21-29 age group increased from around 70% to 75% whereas all other age group's percentage decreased. The percentage of men held full licence. A considerable fall was observed for 60-69 age group from around 85% to 75% which is the highest proportion. Followed by the 70 and over category, where figures fell by around 35%. The percentage of licence holding men (17-20) remained almost same in both the years at around 37% each.

Regarding women, the proportion of women holding licence increased significantly with the age till 30-39 and later the figures decreased gradually. The percentage of licence holder ages 70 and increased largely from 2% to 30%. The figures
