The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Full car driving licence holders: by sex and age

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given chart illustrates the percent of people holding full driving licence in Great Britian denoted by age and sex in 1975/76 and 2006 respectively.

From an overall standpoint, it is readily apparent that women in 1975/76 acquired relatively less percent of driving licence than men whereas, 2006 varies in percentage and also shows drastic increase of women holding driving licence. Whereas, for men we can state that there hasn't been much fluctuation and numbers remained stagnant and increased gradually overtime in both the years 1975/76 and 2006.

In terms of totality, we can state that women with the age group of 70 and above possesses the least amount of licence in both respective chosen years. Men can be seen leading throughout in most of the age groups and were only seen dramatically low between the ages of 17-20. In the age group of 40-49 we can observe that women are the highest by 80% in2006 whilist, men are reported to have the highest peak in 2006 by the age group of 50-59 with around 90%.
