Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count, which severely limits the ability to provide a comprehensive summary of the data. The introduction is inaccurate, as it misinterprets the dates provided in the prompt. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which means the main features and comparisons are not adequately reported. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the task, including a clear overview and detailed supporting data for all age groups and both years, while meeting the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response attempts to use basic cohesive devices such as 'Overall' and 'Regarding', but the lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the logical flow. The paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending prevents a coherent structure from being established. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas, such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'consequently', to ensure the information is logically sequenced.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and contains errors in word choice and form, such as 'who holding' instead of 'who hold' and 'aged men' instead of 'older men'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data trends effectively. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology for describing graphs, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant increase', and ensure you use the correct grammatical forms of the words you choose.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity, such as 'by 2006 and from 1975 to 1976' (which is confusing) and 'the small percentage' (incorrect article usage). The sentence structures are basic and often incomplete. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage. Practice writing complete, complex sentences by combining simple ideas with relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and proofread your work to ensure all sentences are finished.
